Daily Market Trends: MNF and The NHL
Moving Today's Market
It's not surprise that tonight's NFL matchup is drawing the most interest with only hockey and the NBA preseason to take away from it. The Patriots opened at Pinnacle as 3.5 point favorites, but the line quickly dropped to New England -3. Since then only the money behind the point has fluctuated, originally at -113 moved as high as -119 before reaching its current +109. The Broncos are receiving 60% of the public's spread bets, and that backing triggered a Smart Money play at TradeSports when the line moved from New England -2.5 to -3.5 on Saturday, but it has since returned to New England -2.5.
In the NHL, we can see some more interesting movements in the moneyline. The public is jumping behind the Penguins as road underdogs. Sidney Crosby broke out of his early season slump in Pittsburgh's last game with a goal and three assists, thanks in part to a lineup change that paired him with Evgeni Malkin. The Bruins opened as -125 favorites at Pinnacle, and thanks to 59% of public bets on the Pens, Boston has moved to -122 favorites. In an inter-conference square off, the Rangers opened as -150 favorites at Pinnacle and are receiving 59% of moneyline wagers against the Stars. Despite that public backing the line has moved to New York -140. The Stars have received multiple Smart Money plays against the Blue Shirts.
