TNA Impact Wrestling (5/19): The Hits, the Misses and the "Who Knows?"
The first edition of Impact Wrestling was last night (5/19). The show featured the fall out of the Sacrifice PPV. We also got to find out the latest scoop on Mick Foley and the network and what TNA was going to do with Chyna. As always, these are the Hits, Misses and What the Hell moments.
HITS:
Opening Video
On Impact Wrestling this week, TNA debuted a new video of their wrestlers and the Impact Wrestling logo, which I assume is what will start the show every week. I like this change to the show and the video was really well done. Although this is a minor change, I thought it was worth addressing.
On a side note, Jeff Hardy was in the video, so now besides mentioning Jeff's name every so often, there will be a weekly reminder of him on the show. They are definitely not going to get rid of him anytime soon.
Kazarian vs. Abyss
This was a very good match. I definitely didn't see the finish happening. Although Kazarian had the X Division Title for a long time, it just seemed that he would drop it at a PPV and be on to bigger and better things. Abyss with the X Division Title doesn't appeal to me, so they better start having X Division wrestlers jump at the chance to fight Abyss for the title.
Flair/Roode Segment
Is it just me, or has Bobby Roode just shined the last couple of weeks?
This segment was great for a few reasons. First, they both sounded great on the mic and I'm glad they used Flair this way instead of him wrestling.
Second, it gives Flair an out to have the damn shoulder surgery he needs that he has been putting off. This is going to be a storyline builder because this was the last segment where a Fourtune member got hur,t and now everyone from Fourtune is injured.
Lastly, this showcased why Roode could be in the main event tomorrow. He has the skills to do it and I wouldn't be surprised to see him there by this time next year.
MISSES:
Samoa Joe vs. Amazing Red
I didn't like this as a match before I even saw it. Then the match comes and Joe beats Red in like two minutes. This was the second loss of the night by the X Division. They could have put on a good match with more time.
The only point of this match in particular, was to have Crimson come out and save his "big" brother from Joe, so they can work their way towards Crimson vs. Samoa Joe at Slammiversary.
Velvet Sky vs. Angelina Love and Winter
This was the second Knockout's match on Impact this week. The storyline between Velvet and Angelina and Winter has gone no where. I am quite stunned that they haven't moved this along any better.
Velvet won which I guess is a change of pace, but at the same time I have no inclination that this storyline is going to end anytime soon. At the very end ODB shows up and attacks Velvet so now it seems Velvet will be feuding with ODB.
WHAT THE HELL:
What the Hell is up with Tara? She apparently is a complete face now. I get that she turned on Madison Rayne but it still begs the question of if that means she is a face now or that she is a heel that hates Rayne.
She has the powerful move-set of a heel and I think her character more of fits the heel persona. By the way, did TNA completely forget about the Tara/Mickie feud that happened when Mickie first arrived to TNA?
Apparently they did, because Tara and Mickie are now BFF's and hugging after matches.
What the Hell was TNA thinking letting Matt Hardy beat Generation pretty much by himself?
Let me break it down for you.
Hardy teamed up with Bischoff against the Bucks'. He proceeded to get his ass kicked by both Max and Jeremy. Out of nowhere Hardy takes Jeremy out and he is laying outside the ring. He then puts Max in the Icepick submission hold of his.
He knocks him out and lets Bischoff pin him. This was the first time Bischoff got in the ring.
Apparently one Hardy is better than two Bucks. Oh yeah, there was no cheating involved and the Bucks' did not fight with one another. What The Hell?
Quote of the night: "Ding Dong the bitch is dead." - Kurt Angle. I love Angle's interactions with Karen Jarrett. It was just funny to hear him say this and Angle's timing was perfect.
Spot of the night: Musclebuster to Amazing Red. Red sold the move perfectly and I re-watched that part over and over again. The only highlight of the bad match.
Impact Wrestling put out a very good edition this week in my opinion. It was announced by Angle that Chyna was doing him a favor and that she wasn't there last night.
The problems Immortal is having with the X Division is giving us something different for the time being. The X Division is going to have the chance to shine the next couple of weeks and I am looking forward to the matches that will take place, whatever they may be.
Next week on Impact the main event will be RVD vs. Kurt Angle. Also next week, AJ Styles and The Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels will face Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer. If TNA can be good again like they were this week, than I definitely am looking forward to next week.
Leave a comment and let me know what you thought of this weeks edition of Impact Wrestling and what you would have chosen as your hits and misses as well as what made you say what the hell.
As always, thanks for reading and be sure to check for next weeks edition of Impact Wrestling: Hits, Misses and 'What the Hell."
