Bears-Vikings: Special Teams Battle in the Windy City

Tanner ThomsOct 19, 2008

Oh, what a tough time it is to be a Vikings fan. Contrary to what the article photo shows, the Vikings had little reason to celebrate. How do you force 41 points and still lose? Easy: bad decisions. I'll display a few.

1. Chris Kluwe: Dropped snap for a punt. You're paid to catch the balls and then kick them. You can't do that? It's unexcusable! And then to kick the ball right to Garrett Wolfe!? This action cost the price a touchdown and a flag.

2. Charles Gordon:
Fumbles punt return which goes in to the end zone and is later recovered for a touchdown. Charles, let the ball go. I would rather have you guys get it at the one-yard line then a touchdown!

3. Gus Frerotte's Interceptions:
Not one...Not two...Not three...But four interceptions. Gus, this is why we started you, bro—to make less mistakes than Tarvaris Jackson. Honestly, I would almost rather have Tarvaris in there.

Kyle Orton threw for 283 yards and two touchdowns. Matt Forte had one rushing touchdown.

Vikings have a bye next week, which will hopefully allow a few players to rest up. Perhaps Brad Childress will be fired as well. In Week Nine, the Vikes host the Houston Texans. In Week 10, Minnesota is at home to play NFC North rivals Green Bay Packers. It won't get any easier, Vikings fans.

I wish I had more to say, but I'm pretty frustrated with how we played today. Plenty of offense on our part, just too much careless play.
