Philadelphia Eagles: Top 5 Plays from the 2010 Season

Michael MillMay 15, 2011

The 2010 season is quite a ways in the rear-view mirror.

However, it's always nice to look back and see the major accomplishments that your favorite sports franchise made throughout the season.

The Philadelphia Eagles faced many ups and many downs throughout 2010, from the resurrection of Mike Vick's career to the meltdown against Minnesota.

Here are the five greatest plays from the Eagles' 2010 season.

5. McNabb Throws a Pick-6

1 of 5

Typically, when Donovan McNabb threw an interception in an Eagles game, it wasn't a good thing.

In Week 10, when the Eagles faced the Washington Redskins, it was a good thing.

I'm not one to hate on McNabb. In fact, I'm very appreciative of all the great seasons he led the Eagles to over the past decade.

That doesn't change the fact that it felt great watching Quintin Mikell take a McNabb interception for a touchdown late in a game that was already out of reach for Washington.

4. Asante Picks off Peyton

2 of 5

There was absolutely nothing special about the play itself, but the game-clinching interception by Asante Samuel in Week 9 against the Colts shifted the momentum of the entire season for Philadelphia.

Heading into the game, the Eagles were 4-3 and struggling to find consistency.

The victory over Manning and the Colts began a streak that would lead the Eagles to wins in five of their next six games, and ultimately a playoff berth.

3. Shady Brings It Home on Fourth Down

3 of 5

This was probably the ugliest, best play of the season.

The Eagles were trailing 17-16 with only 4:25 remaining the game during their Week 11 meeting against the New York Giants.

Trailing by one point at midfield, the Eagles elected to go for it on a 4th-and-1.

The snap is juggled by Mike Vick before he manages to get the pitch off to LeSean McCoy.

Fifty yards later, the Eagles suddenly found themselves with the lead.

2. Monday Night Football Starts with a Bang

4 of 5

If the Eagles would start off every game in 2011 the way they did in Week 10 against Washington, I would be a very happy fan.

After the pre-game scuffle where LaRon Landy taunted DeSean Jackson, telling him "he would make him go to sleep," Jackson shut Landry up quickly on the field.

Following a holding call on the opening kickoff, the Eagles go 88 yards in one play: Vick to Jackson.

1. Miracle at the New Meadowlands

5 of 5

Did you really think it would be anything else?

Once trailing 31-10 with under eight minutes remaining in the game, the Eagles found themselves in position for a last-second play to win the game after a Giants punt.

However, they didn't need that one play.

A poor line-drive punt to DeSean Jackson was all the Eagles needed.

Jackson took the punt 65 yards for the touchdown and victory. This play is the only walk-off punt return touchdown in NFL history.
