Chad Ochocinco: Don't quit your day job...if you still have one.
Say what you will about Chad Ochocinco. He can be obnoxious. He can be something of a diva. He can even be whiny: See his tweet a few week back about Marvin Lewis hurting his feelings.
But he's still a world-class athlete. You know he's spent thousands of hours in the weight room over the years. And as a 10-year veteran of the NFL, he has absorbed his share of big-time hits from some massive people.
Maybe that's what convinced him he could ride a bull at a rodeo in Atlanta.
It didn't quite work out as well as he probably expected.
The former Chad Johnson lasted about 1.5 seconds before he was bucked then run out of the ring.
So what exactly should we make of this episode, just a few weeks after he tried his hand at a professional soccer?
Well, I suppose we should give him a few kudos for trying to raise money for charity. And at least he didn't back out of the event that was so public: Remember, part of his beef with Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis is that Lewis, commenting on Ochocinco's pro soccer aspirations, said "What has he ever done that he's completed? What circle has he ever connected?"
But at a time where his NFL career is already in some doubt—not only is he 33, he's coming off a pretty mediocre 2010 season—he risked what he has left of a career for this stunt.
Look how close he was to being trampled by the bull.
Don't get me wrong, it was funny to see him get tossed and then hop that barrier. But is this really what has become of 85's career?
His wacky end zone skits and silly antics were tolerable when he was one of the NFL's premier receivers: He was only capable of those touchdown celebrations because he repeatedly scored touchdowns.
But now, with the Bengals franchise in turmoil over Carson Palmer and his own future in doubt, the tweet, the pro soccer, the bull riding and Chad Ochocinco the entertainer are starting to overshadow Chad Ochocinco the football player.
Of course, maybe that started long ago. You know, when he changed his name to Chad Ochocinco.
