Week 7 Key NFL Trends From NFLOne.com: Our Blog/Forum Is Live!
AT FIRST GLANCE…there are games that always look ‘Tasty’ ATS in many publications as a ‘Bullet’ trend only to ‘trap’ upon further review. In 2006, The Director looked for the first time to clear the way for you to understand which team has the real ‘ADVANTAGE’ against the ‘Trend’.
Almost halfway through the season, the question is whether history will ever repeat itself. Those who follow the trends have to wonder. Having started there before, we enter Kansas City at the crossroads of a series; the Tennessee Titans are 1-0 ATS over the last three years in a 9 point margin of victory last year. The crossroads in that in the previous matchup in 2004 the KANSAS CITY CHIEFS were able to pull off a victory SU and ATS. The same rings true in Miami where the upstart Dolphins will face off with the Baltimore Ravens. The Fish 1-0 ATS in a 6 point margin of victory last year. The difference here is that the Dolphins had a SU loss back in 2004. History may definitely be made here.
DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE
In a week with plenty of splits to speak of in the Cowboys/Rams and Vikings/Bears matchups, the most intriguing trend is in Carolina. Following a failed effort in Week 6, the CAROLINA PANTHERS enter versus the New Orleans Saints in a series where the Road team is 4-0 ATS in the last four games in the series. Even more troubling for John Fox is that the Panthers are 1-1 SU at Home versus the Saints in the run, including a 25 pints beat down.
ADVANTAGE SAINTS
If the game was anytime but Sunday Night, it may be hard to digest the fact that the Seattle Seahawks are 2-0 ATS over the last three years versus the TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS. Although the equation is altered with Wallace at the helm, and the Bucs running a 3-0 Home record ATS, the facts remain the same that between an opening day victory and closing day victory, the Seahawks have gone 2-0 ATS over the last two years in winning by an average of 15 points per game.

FIRST LOOK
Two teams coming in from different directions are the 49ers and the Giants. After getting crushed by the Browns on Monday Night, the good news for the Giants is a return home where they are 2-1 ATS. Not only have the NY GIANTS gone 2-0 ATS in this series over the last three years, but they have been victorious by 18 point margins in both New York as well as San Francisco.
ADVANTAGE NY GIANTS
KING TRENDS
with Favre at the helm, and the Raiders arriving off a poor effort against the Saints, the NY Jets will look to parlay the combined 2-0 run ATS of Mangini and Edwards versus the OAKLAND RAIDERS over the last three years. The last matchup in 2006, the Jets have won at Home twice by an average margin over 18 points. They will look to better their last failed trip out west versus the San Diego Chargers against a Raiders team 0-2 ATS at Home in .
ADVANTAGE NY JETS
If there was ever a team that has decided to keep the trends on their toes in 2008, it is the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, with Fitzpatrick at the helm of the CINCINNATI BENGALS, 0-2 ATS at Home in 2008, it is hard to ignore the success the Steelers have had versus the Bengals in taking the last three games in the series; the latest two victories under Tomlin. Having won by an average of 11 points per game, the Steelers will look to get back on track.
