San Francisco Giants: How Are the World Series Champs Doing?

Since the Giants won the World Series, Brian Wilson, Tim Lincecum, Pablo Sandoval, Edgar Renteria and all these guys were being more appreciated. Has the appreciation helped?

Yes.

The San Francisco Giants rebounded from a tough start and have won 20 games so far, compared to 16 losses. The defending champs are tied for first in the NL West.

San Francisco has won five straight games and seven of eight, sweeping the Rockies, taking two of three from the Mets and taking the first two against Arizona. Tuesday, it was Cody Ross; Wednesday, Andres Torres.

Everyone is getting into the fun that is Giants baseball. Even though the Giants still have 126 games left and the division race is tight, there is reason to believe and celebrate in San Francisco.

Pablo Sandoval has hit five homers and knocked in 14 runs in just 24 games played. Pat Burrell has also gone deep five times, but most of those were in early or mid April. Plus, Pat the Bat only has nine RBI.

The leader in RBI is none other than star catcher and Rookie of the Year Buster Posey. Posey has belted four out of the park, and he has knocked in 19 runs, which leads the team. However, he only has a .244 batting average—not something to be proud of.

Although he only has 34 at-bats, Torres has hit .324 and has done well this year. Sandoval is right behind him at .313, capping off one of his best starts ever. If the Panda keeps it up, we'll have even more panda-monium in San Fran.

Tim Lincecum hasn't performed like the ace he is, going 3-3 so far. He would've been 4-3, but the Giants decided to walk off and win 1-0 instead of dominating Arizona and giving Big Time Timmy Jim a win.

Brian Wilson has three wins now, performing well in clutch situations. The Giants have come through so many times in the ninth inning, and Wilson has dominated those games.

Wilson also has 12 saves, even though he missed a week or a week and a half of the season. San Francisco has gotten unexpected help from Ryan Vogelsong, who has replaced Barry Zito and started 2-0. Madison Bumgarner has not done well though, starting 0-5.

If San Fran keeps it up, it will be on track for another great season. If you didn't pay attention to the MLB playoffs, well, you should know by now that the Giants can't be overlooked.
