New Orleans Saints Running Back Reggie Bush Calls out ESPN Bad Boy Skip Bayless

Joye PruittMay 10, 2011

Reggie Bush continues to allow Twitter to be the ultimate determinant in how successful he will be in the NFL. Besides tweeting a few weeks ago, “It’s been nice” to the fans of New Orleans, Bush has been adamant on stirring up controversy in this NFL offseason already plagued with lockouts and lawsuits.

The ex-Mr. Kardashian tweeted yesterday about how happy he has been during the lockout. His comments included statements about how much money he was making, how happy he was to not be working out and the lacking desire to return.

Has no one noticed that Twitter can crush your image in a matter of seconds? Bush has 1.6-plus million followers, therefore there are clearly people paying attention to the ridiculous tweets he continues to spew.

So, who else got their hands on Reggie’s tweets? Apparently, Skip Bayless of ESPN’s First Take got a hold of his quotes and in usual Bayless fashion, compounded insult upon insult about Bush’s on-field play and off-field passion for the game.

Isn’t he right? How many times has someone questioned Bush’s will to excel and practice in order to do so?

Coming into the league, the running back seemed to expect the same fanfare and elite ability that he had at USC without comprising his body in the least bit.

There is no football player in the NFL that will attest to the fact that they did not have to work at their craft before succeeding at the higher level. Riding on the fame of his ex-girlfriend and his short-lived Heisman capture has gotten Bush nothing but an uncertain tomorrow.

Reggie Bush decided that it would be in the best interest of his brand to respond to the comments Skip made on television earlier today with a little tweeted banter of his own. In doing so, he challenged Bayless to a one-on-one full gear battle with full contact.

The statements were a bit humorous at first sight, but as the patience of team front offices is dwindling in light of constant indiscretions from players in the league, Bush is putting himself in a position that will take more than a mediocre workout session to dig him out.
