MLB Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts: 5/9/11
Here’s a look at the unheralded fantasy baseball players who played well yesterday.
Los Angeles Dodgers at Pittsburgh
Garrett Jones went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Ryan Doumit went 3-for-4 with an RBI to raise his average to .295. Aaron Miles went 2-for-5 with a run. Jeff Karstens gave up one run in 5-2/3 innings, but got a no-decision.
Philadelphia at Florida
Raul Ibanez went 2-for-4. Ross Gload went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Chris Coghlan went 3-for-4 with a run, an RBI, and a stolen base. Gaby Sanchez went 3-for-4 with a home run (6) and three RBI (23) to raise his average to .341.
Detroit at Toronto
Austin Jackson went 1-for-6 with a run and four RBI. Don Kelly went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Jhonny Peralta went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Yunel Escobar went 2-for-3 with a home run. Corey Patterson went 1-for-5with two runs, two RBI, and a stolen base. Max Scherzer improved to 6-0.
San Diego at Milwaukee
Jonathan Lucroy went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI to raise his average to .299. Will Venable went 2-for-4 with a run. Jason Bartlett went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Brad Hawpe went 2-for-4. Zack Greinke gave up two runs on five hits with nine strikeouts for his first Brewer win. Mat Latos continued to struggle.
Oakland at Texas
Daric Barton went 1-for-3 with two runs. Josh Willingham went 2-for-4 with two runs, a home run (6), and five RBI (22). Mitch Moreland went 2-for-4 with a homer. Trevor Cahill continues to shine.
Minnesota at Boston
Jason Varitek and Denard Span each went 2-for-4 with a run. Justin Morneau went 2-for-5. Michael Cuddyer went 2-for-4. Luke Hughes went 2-for-3. Josh Beckett three seven scoreless innings. Nick Blackburn gave up one run with five strikeouts in 6-1/3 innings. Neither starter factored into the decision.
Cincinnati at Houston
Ramon Hernandez went 1-for-5 with a home run and two RBI. Chris Valaika went 2-for-4 with two runs. Ryan Hanigan went 3-for-4 with a run. Travis Wood struck out six in 6-2/3 scoreless innings for the win.
New York Mets at Colorado
Chris Iannetta went 2-for-4 with two runs and his fifth homer. Ike Davis went 2-for-4 to raise his average to .299. Jhoulys Chacin gave up one run on two hits with five strikeouts. He got a no-decision, thanks in part to his six walks. Chris Capuano gave up two runs on five hits in 6-2/3 innings, but took the loss.
Chicago White Sox at Los Angeles Angels
Adam Dunn continues to turn it around. Carlos Quentin had a huge night. Gordon Beckham went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Edwin Jackson, yesterday’s streaming pitcher option, gave up five hits with five strikeouts in seven innings for the win.
