Schalke 04 Attacker Raul to Return to Spain for Friendly Against Real Madrid

According to Goal.com, Raul is expected to participate in a friendly game during the summer of 2011. He will be playing as an attacker for Schalke 04 against his former team Real Madrid.

The Schalke 04 website confirmed that the match will be held in the Santiago Bernabeu. The invitation to the friendly was issued by Real Madrid.

The date set for the encounter is August 2011, although the final details have yet to be worked out. Florentino Perez (President of Real Madrid) is a fan of Raul.

Perez admits that he has been a supporter of Schalke 04 since Raul signed with the Bundesliga team. Raul won 16 trophies for Real Madrid when he played for the team.

Raul has a reputation of a living legend (as well as an institution) for scoring 228 goals within 550 league matches. Raul is not the only player with ties to Real Madrid and Schalke 04.

Mesut Ozil will be facing his former teammates from Schalke 04 as a midfielder for Real Madrid. Ozil started his career at Schalke 04 and rose through its youth ranks.

Ozil eventually graduated to the senior squad of Schalke 04 before signing with Real Madrid in the summer of 2010.

It will be interesting to see this match between two legendary teams of the UEFA Champions League.
