Ron Artest Video: Watch Ron Ron Clothesline J.J. Barea in Game 2
The Lakers are frustrated.
So much so that Ron Artest took out his anger on little J.J. Barea.
Artest is 6'7", 260 pounds. Barea is listed at 6'0", but I'm not buying that.
In the closing seconds of Game 2, Barea was driving up the court and Artest came flying at him. He stuck his arm out, grabbed his face and then just walked away.
We've seen Artest go nuts on the court before. He has certainly done much worse things than this. However, Artest will most likely be suspended for this. The question is, should he be suspended?
If you watch, Artest holds Barea up as opposed to just dropping him to the floor. Artest holds his hand on Barea's back as a good gesture. Is that his way of saying, "I'm sorry for almost ripping your face off?"
For a second, I really thought Artest might stay to check on Barea. He does the best thing and just walks away. Had he stayed by his side it probably would have gotten more players involved and escalated to something more.
Because of Artest's history in the NBA, this isn't going to end well. I don't believe Artest intentionally set out to do this, but honestly, you never know.
The league will likely suspend him and he probably won't be playing in Game 3. The Lakers will miss his defense, but his non-existent offense won't be missed at all.
Should Artest be suspended? I say no because there have been plenty of players to throw elbows or hands to the face and nothing happened to them at all. Anybody remember Kobe's shot to Mike Bibby's face back in the day? Yeah, no call, no nothing.
Artest shouldn't be suspended, but he likely will be because of who he is and his past.
What do you think?
