WWE: John Morrison's Doghouse Diary (Day 20 & 21), Truth Beats Morrison Up Again

Alfred KonuwaMay 2, 2011

Big Nasty will be keeping a running diary of what should be an epic losing streak/de-push of former WWE rising star John Morrison

Major heat on Morrison stems back to WrestleMania season, when Morrison infamously gave WWE Diva Legend Trish Stratus cold-shoulder treatment leading up to their WrestleMania 27 mixed tag team match.

TAMPA, Florida, May 1, 2011 - John Morrison was impressive in defeat in last night's Extreme Rules steel cage main event.  As expected, Morrison dazzled with an array of stunts that have defined his unique, high-flying style.

What was unexpected was the fact that Morrison wasn't the one who took the deciding pinfall, challenging the already controversial notion of whether or not he is still in WWE's doghouse.

The pre-match hype for the night's main event came and went with little fanfare from Morrison.  Both Cena and the Miz, his opponents in the WWE Championship Steel Cage Match, were featured in prominent talking segments.  Even Morrison's chief rival, R-Truth, was featured in yet another solid promo.  By the end of Truth's promo, where he suggested that there was a conspiracy against him, it was safe to assume that we hadn't seen the last of R-Truth on that night.

Rather than cut a promo, Morrison, who has proven to have severe shortcomings on the mic, was shown backstage climbing tables and performing his signature parkour pre-match exercises.

Lucky for Morrison, he can do his talking in the ring.

Despite being under-emphasized leading up to the WWE Championship Triple Threat Showdown at Extreme Rules, Morrison was very much involved in the main event.

Morrison's body certainly took a toll from a physical main event, as tweeted by WWE Diva and Morrison's girlfriend Melina:

"

"Ha ha ha! I love how everyone wants me to slap R-Truth! I love you guys! Jomo is ok. I get all worried! His neck is bothering him a bit...

...He's got all these scrapes and welts. They had an amazing match... They went all out, but he's fine everyone!!!"

"

Morrison's most impressive spot saw him hit his Starship Pain finisher from the top of the steel cage on both Miz and Cena.  At one point, Morrison came within an eyelash of escaping the cage and capturing the WWE Championship.

Enter R-Truth.

R-Truth slammed the cage door shut on an escaping Morrison, and in turn, slammed the door on Morrison's brief run in the main event.

R-Truth attacked Morrison, hitting his finisher on the challenger, and at one point, Cena fell victim to an R-Truth scissors kick.

Cena would go on to win the match, pinning the Miz, however Morrison now seems destined for a mid card feud with R-Truth.

MIAMI, Florida, May 2, 2011 - RAW came back from commercial as Jim Ross was shown sitting ringside in place of Michael Cole, who received his comeuppance on free TV courtesy of the Rock.

A match between John Morrison and R-Truth was teased prior to the break, and the time had apparently come for this budding rivalry to commence.

John Morrison made his way out to the ring first, but R-Truth attacked him prematurely in a scene that has become all too familiar in the past couple of weeks.  Truth quickly hit his finisher on the outside as the hot Miami crowd booed Truth.

As WWE officials helped a hobbled Morrison to the back, R-Truth returned and once again hit his finisher on Morrison, this time on the ramp.

Following an impressive performance in a WWE Championship main event last night, Morrison appears to be making the gradual slide down to a mid card feud.  With Truth surging as one of the upper echelon heels on RAW, perhaps the two could be passing each other on the proverbial elevator within the coming months as Morrison begins his descent down the pecking order.

Prior to SummerSlam, WWE will need heel challengers for Cena who are not named Alberto Del Rio.  With Cena set to face the Miz in tonight's main event and CM Punk in limbo, R-Truth is a more than formidable candidate to fill that role at an ensuing pay-per-view.
