Yann M'Vila Transfer Speculation: Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal or Other

Yann M’Vila has been a revelation for Stade Rennes in the last few years taking them toward the top of the table in Ligue 1. The soon to be 21 year-old has been making a name for himself as a strong, active, ball winner at his defensive midfield position.

The thing that sets M’Vila apart from other players in the same role is his ability to link the defense to attack with his accurate passes and ability to read the game. These abilities have not only seen Yann cement his place in Laurant Blanc’s new look national team, but also attract major interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Adding to the interest has been M’Vila’s ability to perform at every level. He has been a part of the national youth sides for France, including being handed the duties of captain during some of those stops. His maturity on and off the pitch has been another check mark on the positive attributes he possesses. The only questions surrounding M’Vila are where will he go and for how much.

It is widely believed Rennes will not part with their star for under 15 million dollars. Even at that amount, there should be no shortage of suitors for his services as the likes of Manchester United, AC Milan, Liverpool, Juventus, and Real Madrid have all shown interest. Arsenal and Lyon are also rumored to be keen on adding M’Vila to their roster.

The perception is that Yann would prefer a move to the Premier League, and admires Manchester United. While Arsenal’s history of obtaining top French talent under Arsene Wenger is well documented, the price may end up too much for the Gunner’s Manager to make a formal bid.

M’Vila would address the a position of constant need for Arsenal since Patrick Viera left for Italy. Manchester United are needing a midfield replacement for Paul Scholes, and would welcome M’Vila to anchor their midfield, but rumors persist that Sir Alex Ferguson is a keen admirer of Inter Milan’s Wesley Schneider. If a move for the Dutchman is thwarted by Inter, than United are likely to move for M’Vila.

United’s stiffest competition for M’Vila’s services may be from Liverpool who are looking to reshape their squad to fit Kenny Daglish’s vision. While one should not rule out Madrid or AC Milan from adding the midfielder to their squad, one would expect to see M’Vila plying his trade in England come this fall.

The only real question might just be what color of red will he be wearing.
