2011 NFL Draft Results: The Three Worst Round 2 Picks

Wes ODonnellApr 29, 2011

The 2011 NFL Draft continues to roll on and teams are still working to make themselves better immediately.

Lots of trades, lots of commotion and the fast pace of the actual draft has made caused things to happen much faster than recent years.

The Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Diego Chargers were out to change their defenses early.

Indianapolis decided the only thing they needed was offensive lineman and Minnesota was focused on fixing their offense.

A lot of things went into the making of the Day 2 of the draft, and we still have plenty more action to come tomorrow.

Things can certainly change for a few of these teams at the back end of the draft but a few teams have already made some head scratching decisions.

No. 41 Washington Redskins: Jarvis Jenkins, DT, Clemson

The Washington Redskins have made a ton of moves during this draft and have ended up with Purdue's Ryan Kerrigan and Clemson's Jarvis Jenkins.

When Jenkins was taken his teammate, and the nation's leader in sacks Da'Quan Bowers, was still on the board along with a few other talents that could have been the pick for the Redskins here.

I am not completely against him, but I feel it was too early for Jenkins in this defense.

He's a talented player, shows good quickness agility for his size, but I just think it was a reach.

Not a terrible pick, but they keep moving down and this is not the value they need.

No. 54 Philadelphia Eagles: Jaiquawn Jarrett, S, Temple

The Philadelphia Eagles went after Danny Watkins in the first round and ignored their need at cornerback not only once, but twice, in order to take local product Jaiquawn Jarrett.

The Eagles have a major need for a tackle and a cornerback but instead they just went after a safety with limited range.

Jaiquawn Jarrett is a solid player from a team that played good football this year, but this was not the Eagles' biggest need.

With Brandon Harris still on the board I think this is a big reach for them.

The safety class did not have a ton of talent this year and Eagles really didn't hit hard with this pick in my mind.

No. 52 New York Giants: Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina

The New York Giants have been going after value over need and here I think it backfired.

The Giants' biggest needs are offensive tackle and linebacker and they didn't get either of them in the first two rounds.

Prince Amukamara was a great value in round one, but Marvin Austin is a gamble that they didn't need to take.

The Giants are one of the toughest pre-draft teams in the league and Austin's character concerns cause me scratch my head.

New York drafted Linval Joseph in the second round last year at defensive tackle and despite all Austin's upside, they could have gone elsewhere.
