2011 NFL Draft Results: Recapping Draft Picks 17-20

Gabe ZaldivarApr 29, 2011

The NFL draft 2011 results are finally here. We have been recapping every pick for last night's epic event. The first round was a success from a drama standpoint.

Now we land on picks 17 through 20. Here it's all about defense. Well, mostly. A couple of ends came off the board as well as one giant tackle.

Each guy here fits perfectly for the team he fell to and the direction the team wants to go. I have no issues with any of these picks.

Let's start breaking down the next four picks.

New England Patriots Take Nate Solder at No. 17

2011 NFL Draft Results Have the Patriots Taking Nate Solder

The New England Patriots get a huge upgrade at offensive line. This is a team that could have used some defensive help, but I like this pick for the future.

The Patriots now have one of the deepest lines in the league. Tom Brady will have time to have his morning coffee and read the paper after he snaps the ball.

Solder was beside himself with joy at being selected by New England. There is no shock there. He can look forward to many trips to the playoffs and marquee games during the season. The Patriots are a great team to be drafted to.

San Diego Chargers Take Corey Liuget at No. 18

2011 NFL Draft Results Have the San Diego Chargers Taking Corey Liuget

The Chargers have the versatile defensive end they needed. Liuget can be the playmaker the Chargers really need on the ball.

He has some fine-tuning to do to his game, but there is a good chance Liuget will be providing some highlights as early as next season for us.

He can be an inside presence if need be or rush the corners. San Diego has the perfect man to fit into its defensive mold.

New York Giants Take Prince Amukamara at No. 19

2011 NFL Draft Results Have the New York Giants Take Prince Amukamara

The Giants are already up on most teams in the 2011 NFL draft. This pick has tremendous value at a fantastic price.

I was surprised that Prince Amukamara slid this far in the draft. He gives the Giants a boost by allowing them to ignore his side of the field. Amukamara has the ability to take on all evils on his side of the field with little help. This frees up the rest of the defense.

Amukamara is extremely gifted and on point in his assessment of the offense. He has great instincts and will be thrilling us with interception returns for years to come.

2011 NFL Draft Results Have the Buccaneers Taking Adrian Clayborn

Tampa Bay needed some help at defensive end. This team did not get to the quarterback nearly enough in 2010. They have cagey vets but no playmaker on the line.

Clayborn is a gifted pass rusher that immediately boosts this line into the middle of the pack in the NFL. He may have mobility issues, but the Buccaneers are wholly confident he can contribute.

I agree. Clayborn is a big figure with great speed to the outside. There is no way the Bucs finish 30th in sacks next year.
