WWE Getting...Real?

Joe Burgett Oct 12, 2008

According to WWE's management's Vince McMahon he has said he wants wrestling to become more real.

Former WCW superstar Norman Smiley was hired as a trainer for WWE's developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling because of his background experience in realistic Japanese wrestling.

Officials would like wrestlers to make their punches appear that it's connecting to the opponent and to perform moves that are more realistic. McMahon would like the wrestlers to put their hands up in defense when receiving a punch.

Management has debated for more than a year about the use of a knockout finish, which was recently done with the Undertaker and Big Show match at No Mercy. When WWE went into HD programming earlier this year the wrestlers were told to work closer to not reveal the unrealistic moves.

To me its good that they are adding this to the WWE experience, although it may look real, it isn't, as usual. The punches while in HD are going to b fake but with that sort of wrestling swist.

Talking to Indy wrestlers they feel that this is good for the WWE and they told me how they might do it, they said if the camera is on them closely it will be the other arm on the other side of the camera that the punch is seen.

So if I where to punch John Cena in the corner it would show me doing it, but the camera would be on the other side of the punch instead of the side the punch is one, so that would still be fake but no one could tell. Obviously because they couldn't see it

If the punch is in the center of the ring with no corners to work from, they would hit  their face, but would not hit it with as much power as it looks, before the cameras couldn't tell, they just hit them with their arm going down, instead of actually hitting the opponent.

Sort of how they did in the Big Show/Floyd Mayweather fight at Wrestlemania. Mayweather actually hit Big Show, but not as much as the played it out to be, they even had a fake part in the back with the medical personnel from the WWE, showing Show's bruise.

You didn't see one at the PPV but on RAW there it was, I think they must have hired the special effects guys from the movies they do. Anyway it will give more drama to me, but you might see more injuries though, especially with veterans who are used to doing what they do now, and not the newer moves.

The FCW guys should pick it up quite well though, but what do you think about the realistic WWE? good or bad for them?
