Detroit Tigers' Outfielder Ryan Raburn Gives Miguel Olivio an Early Birthday Present

One comparison I never thought that I would make is one between Jose Canseco and Ryan Raburn.

If you recall, Canseco was involved in one of the most famous baseball blunders of all-time when he retreated back to the wall to catch a flyball against the Cleveland Indians. But instead of watching the ball go into the glove, he felt bad for the franchise and wanted to give the batter, Carlos Martinez, a homerun.

The ball hit him in the head and bounced over the fence.

Raburn's blunder wasn't quite as humorous, but it was just as generous. With Phil Coke on the mound, Seattle Mariners catcher Miguel Olivo hit a ball to left field that was going to fall just short of the wall. Raburn moved back on the ball and it hit off his glove and bounced over the wall.

This looked like a Harlem Globetrotters play.

It couldn't have been hit to a more perfect spot. Raburn threw his glove up at the precise moment he needed to in order for the ball to carom right off his mitt into the bullpen, just over the fence.

Raburn can take some comfort in knowing that his name will sit alongside Canseco's for all of eternity.

If that's not enough, he will be featured on "Sportscenter" this Friday when they do the Not Top 10 segment.

Maybe, just maybe he will have the top blunder of the week and challenge golfer Kevin Na, who is the defending worst of the worst champion after shooting a 16 on a hole.

I am sure Raburn is very proud of this accomplishment. Every athlete dreams of being featured on a list of hilarious bloopers.

It's part of the reason they do the work that they do.
