NFL Draft 2011: 25 Top Prospects Set To Attend NFL Draft in New York City
The 2011 NFL draft is the last and only scheduled event we have this year in the NFL.
At the conclusion of the draft, we will enter a level of uncertainty that may not lift until late August or early September.
Things got ugly at one point, and we heard rumors of a possible boycott from the NFLPA.
Instead, they created their own event prior to the draft, and now the NFL has set a record in the process.
On Thursday, April 28, there will be 25 NFL draft prospects in attendance.
According to ESPN, those 25 prospects are:
"Nebraska cornerback Prince Amukamara, UCLA linebacker Akeem Ayers, Iowa defensive end Adrian Clayborn, Kentucky receiver Randall Cobb, Alabama defensive tackle Marcell Dareus, Auburn DT Nick Fairley, Missouri quarterback Blaine Gabbert, Georgia receiver A.J. Green, Boston College linebacker Mark Herzlich, Alabama running back Mark Ingram, California defensive end Cameron Jordan, Alabama WR Julio Jones, Purdue DE Ryan Kerrigan, Illinois DT Corey Liuget, Texas A&M LB Von Miller, UCLA safety Rahim Moore, Auburn QB Cam Newton, LSU CB Patrick Peterson, Florida offensive lineman Mike Pouncey, Missouri DE Aldon Smith, USC offensive tackle Tyron Smith, Baylor DT Phil Taylor, Baylor guard Danny Watkins, Wisconsin DE J.J. Watt, Virginia Tech running back Ryan Williams
"
Interestingly enough, while a huge number of these players will be called in the first 32 picks, not all of them can expect to shake Roger Goodell's hand.
Boston College linebacker Mark Herzlich is a great player, but will not be selected in the first round.
Kentucky's Randall Cobb, UCLA's Akeem Ayers, Virginia Tech's Ryan Williams and UCLA's Rahim Moore stand out as players who also may be waiting for Day 2 of the draft.
Watching the NFL draft on television is one of the great sporting events in this country, and it is easily the most exciting of all the events that feature one man calling out names for hours with no live action taking place.
In a year where we are not guaranteed anything but this draft, there is already a new record in the NFL record book.
The 2011 NFL draft is going to be a wild one.
