As someone who never really watches Dancing with the Stars, the whole idea of Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward dancing seems odd.

This is the player that takes great pleasure in blocking opponents with devastating hits and comes from the team that boasts the toughest defense in the NFL.

I didn’t understand the hype around the show every year until I saw this video. Somewhere, James Harrison is clapping and Roger Goodell is trying to level a fine.

Ward told Entertainment Weekly:

You never wanna see your partner...we’ve been together for 10 weeks and that Friday was the worst Friday ever, to see your partner carted off and just being in the hospital with her and going over the MRIs. You start contemplating, what could I have done? Could I have prevented the fall? You start second-guessing yourself and then you put things in perspective. It was a trying week. To be honest with you, I didn’t even think about dancing. I was more concerned with her safety than anything.

From my limited dance knowledge, it looks like she was trying to get away from Ward when he caught her from behind. Ward then pulled a wrestling flip out and slammed his partner to the ground.

The dance instructor folded like a cheap lawn chair as Ward crushed her spine like a Go-Gurt tube.

While it is funny now, it looked extremely dangerous, and we all have to be glad that this great show can go on. Pittsburgh fans can also be thankful Ward isn’t in jail for assault after using this karate move/slam gone wrong.
