WWE Draft 2011: My Post-Draft SmackDown Roster
Thursday night, I posted my ideal Raw roster after the WWE Draft. So now, I am back to switch things around and do the exact same thing for the WWE's B-Show; Friday Night SmackDown.
SmackDown is the main reason the WWE moved the draft from July to this coming Monday Night. After losing Edge, SmackDown lacked a top face or really a fully established main event name period.
Without further delay, Lights. Camera. Action!
Michelle McCool vs. Layla
1 of 10
On SmackDown, the split between these two was made official, when Michelle yanked Layla's hair and left her laying (pun intended) on the couch.
I don't think the WWE should send one of them to Raw, because they could build up a big personal feud on SmackDown.
If well done, this could easily bring attention to the Divas division along with the Kharma/Gail Kim feud I set up for the Raw portion of this.
Big Show vs. Ted DiBiase
2 of 10
Ted DiBiase, if nothing else, needs some exposure on TV. I thought of a couple of ways to do so, including reuniting him with Cody Rhodes, but that would be holding Rhodes back.
So, I decided to place him in a feud with The Big Show. He would most likely stay heel for this but could still undergo a gimmick change.
Also, I know Show has a history of squashing guys. That wouldn't be the intent here. DiBiase desperately needs to go over and get some possible momentum.
This could be the beginning of a kayfabe "quest" DiBiase is on to win the United States Championship.
Christian vs. Cody Rhodes
3 of 10
Christian and Cody Rhodes are very similar. They both began as tag team wrestlers. Christian with Edge and Cody Rhodes has had Hardcore Holly, Ted DiBiase and Drew McIntyre.
They are both good on the mic. They could have very entertain exchanges on the mic and really get people interested in the feud.
They are both good in-ring workers. This would enable great, pay-per-view worthy matches between the two.
Lastly, they are both in the upper midcard on SmackDown, which makes it very possible.
If booked correctly, a rivalry with Christian and Cody Rhodes could do wonders for both of them.
Sheamus vs. Rey Mysterio
4 of 10
Since Sheamus broke into the WWE, a lot of people have wanted to see him feud with Rey Mysterio.
It has two very high-profile superstars, and two guys who can put on a pretty good match.
It could benefit Sheamus in many ways. He'd get to work with Rey Mysterio and get over even more heat as a heel. As for Mysterio, he could pull his underdog antics once again.
I was going to have this feud be for the United States Championship, but I thought that this could be kept relevant without the championship. And I didn't have as quite as much talent to work with like I did with Raw.
The Tag Team Division
5 of 10
I'm doing this part a little differently. Instead of posting feuds, I will be rebuilding an entire division with this slide. I am sorting out the mess that has become the WWE Tag Team Division.
The problem I've noticed is, the WWE no longer has the depth to put bigger names in the tag team division. This makes it difficult to draw attention to the dying division without the big names it had in the past.
Here are my tag teams:
WWE Tag Team Champions: Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater
These two are already three-time tag team champions and are the best team the division has today. While they won't go down as one of the better teams in history, they are very servicable as the champions.
Evan Bourne and Daniel Bryan
This team would be awesome. Think about the matches these two could put on with other talented duos. The problem is, both of these guys are severely lacking mic-skills. However, neither do Gabriel or Slater. So the division wouldn't have the best talkers, they can still amaze us in the ring.
The Uso Brothers (Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso)
These guys have a real connection to each other, unlike the other teams. But for whatever reason, the WWE still has chosen to squash them. They need to be repackaged, possibly more to the way they debuted. I also think reuniting Tamina with these guys would be a smart idea.
Zack Ryder and Primo
I know, I know, I don't have the great master plan to put Zack Ryder in the main event. But he has to build up. Him and Primo have already been teaming up on WWE Superstars, so they could just become relevant.
I think a show, either on SmackDown or WWE.com, would do these two wonders. Zack Ryder could do stuff similar to what he does on his YouTube series; Z! True Long Island Story. Heck, if Primo has some mic skills, this could be the next Dirt Sheet. Not the websites, but like John Morrison and The Miz's show of the past.
Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov
The odd couple of the WWE will stay teamed up. I mean, why not? It isn't like the WWE can do much else with Marella or Kozlov at this point.
Mark Henry and Yoshi Tatsu
Let me explain. I doubt Mark Henry is going to get released, because of his long tenure in the WWE. So, he might as well do something. Why not have these two be the jobbers of the tag division?
Challenger for the United States Championship: Alex Riley
6 of 10
Alex Riley has greatly benefited from being with The Miz. However, he has gotten all "the rub" he is going to get.
Riley has shown potential since entering the WWE. He is very good on the mic, and if you watched NXT at the time, you know his ring skills are pretty good as well.
I believe Alex Riley could become a big star in the WWE. This would be the next step for him to become just that.
United States Champion: Kane
7 of 10
I'm not the biggest fan of transitional champions, but that is exactly what Kane would serve as here.
He would take the title off Sheamus, so Sheamus could move onto bigger things with Rey Mysterio. He would then start a feud with Alex Riley, that would eventually lead to Riley's first championship reign in the WWE.
If it wasn't for the title, I felt that this feud would feel very unimportant.
Challenger for the World Heavyweight Championship: Randy Orton
8 of 10
Randy Orton is considered a lock to be the big name that moves to SmackDown before the WWE Draft is over. It just makes too much sense.
Orton has feuded with about everybody on Raw and SmackDown needs a major face now that Edge is gone.
Orton would almost be guaranteed to be in the title hunt and feud with this next man (assuming he isn't drafted to Raw.)
World Heavyweight Champion: Alberto Del Rio
9 of 10
Alberto Del Rio has been skyrocketed to the top of the WWE. And at Extreme Rules, I believe he will complete his mega-push, by winning the World Heavyweight Championship.
It would only seem that if Orton gets drafted to SmackDown, that these two will feud over the World title. It would also create a possible co-main event for SummerSlam in August.
The End Is Near!
