NBA Playoffs 2011: Shane Battier's Game-Winning Three Against San Antonio Spurs

Eric BallApr 17, 2011

Sunday, April 17th, 2011 is a day Memphis Grizzles forward Shane Battier will always remember.

It started off with Battier drilling the game-winning three-pointer for his No. 8-seeded Grizzles.

Mike Conley penetrated the lane and found the open Battier with 24 seconds left. With Tony Parker closing in, he calmly drilled the three and put the Grizz up for good.

It was the first playoff win for the franchise since its inception. What makes the win even sweeter is that Battier was a member of the Memphis teams that had a 0-12 run in the playoffs.

But now, that's all ancient history, and the Grizz are three wins away from pulling off one of the greatest upsets in NBA playoff history.

Battier finished with 10 points, two rebounds, one assist and a steal, but the game-winning shot wasn't even the most memorable part of his day.

Check out this tweet from Battier after the game.

@ShaneBattier: "Single CRAZIEST day of my life. Hit the winning shot in the game and welcomed Baby Battier to the world. Thank the good Lord!!!!!!"

That's quite the day.

Game winning three? Check.

Newborn baby? Check.

Now, the Grizzles have placed all the pressure on the San Antonio Spurs, as they secured the home-court advantage. What a day for Memphis, and what an even better day for Battier.

Stay tuned to see whether the Grizzles can pull off the unthinkable and beat the mighty Spurs.
