WNBA Draft 2011: Maya Moore and Amber Harris Will Lead Minnesota Lynx to Victory
Maya Moore was always predicted to be off of the draft board immediately, and today the WNBA held no surprises. The Minnesota Lynx will guide her journey into the WNBA with the first overall pick.
Moore is one of those players that you cannot just hold to supremacy in women’s basketball. She is a great basketball player—men’s basketball included—and has left an unbelievable legacy among the basketball programs at the University of Connecticut.
She will not be held captive by the loss to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish Women’s Basketball team in the Final Four. Instead, she'll be remembered by the accomplishment that she became so well known for. Her intensity and immediate impact performances will translate well into the WNBA, as she assists the Minnesota Lynx in an establishment of excellence they have barely known.

Another pick in the first round of the WNBA draft that caught an abundance of attention is Amber Harris.
Not many female athletes are presented with the opportunity to advance to the professional league of their sport. Even with that opportunity looming, Harris decided to complete her tenure at Xavier. Even though she does not have the recognition that Moore may have, her contributions to the Minnesota Lynx will be just as valuable.
The 6’5" forward averaged 18.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game in her last season at Xavier. Harris has the ability to bring accuracy to the Lynx's perimeter game that was really lacking in their most recent season. Never one to conform to the expectations of others, expect Amber to be very aggressive when faced with her opposition.
Both players have so many intangible pros to bring to the WNBA and to the Minnesota Lynx. They could create an All Star scene for a team that has been struggling.
Lynx fans, expect the greatest.
