Miami Dolphins Draft Focus: Go Offense or Go Home!
Despite the current lockout, the NFL draft will go on as scheduled, and for Dolphin fans it hasn’t exactly been the most exciting time of year.
This year’s draft is especially important for a team that has many holes to fill before they can rightfully call themselves a playoff contender. Most of those holes are the on the offensive side of the ball. So they better go offense in this draft early and often unless they want the Marlins to have better attendance.
The defense was pretty solid, finishing sixth in yardage, seventh against the run, and eighth against the pass. They did however give up 20.8 points a game, good for 14th in the league. Also, the defense returns lineman Phillip Merling and Jared Odrick from injury. Naturally, they are loaded up front in a draft overflowing with talent on the defensive line.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Offensively they were horrid. A catastrophe on the eyes. My 16-year-old cousin could run a better two-minute offense.
It was nightmarish quarterback play all season, and it just so happens, as of now they return the same starting quarterback in Chad Henne. Regardless of who takes snaps behind center next year, and I’m betting it will be Henne, they definitely need more punch at the skill positions.
The Dolphins’ blueprint emphasizing size over speed has failed them.
There is not one player on the roster who strikes fear into the defense. Marlon Moore is the only receiver with some speed and they barely played him. Sure Brandon Marshall is a force on the outside in the short to intermediate passing game, but he doesn’t have the speed to frighten opponents deep.
Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams are fine runners in the right system, but neither is a home-run threat. Expect only one, at most, to return next season as both are free agents.
Although they need some help on the offensive line, especially on the interior, a playmaker at running back or receiver should be THE priority. Quality lineman can be had later on.
I’m not expecting this team to go to the Super Bowl next year. I’m not expecting them to be an offensive juggernaut out of thin air. But we fans watch the game of football to be entertained and to label last year’s “product” as entertaining would be like saying most men enjoy shopping, pedicures, and getting nagged about leaving the toilet seat up.
Mr. Metro, I’m obviously not talking to you.
All I ask of this organization is to wow us a few times a game. Believe it or not, we like deep passes. We like 65-yard runs. We can swallow an interception and an occasional second as long as the team is scoring some touchdowns! But when the interceptions conjoin with the most boring offense of the century, it rightfully pisses us off.
This game is supposed to fun to play and equally fun to watch. All we ask as fans is to make it fun again.
