2011 NFL Mock Draft: Order A.J. Green and the Top 10 Wideouts Will Be Taken
Who's the next Randy Moss or Terrell Owens? How about Andre Johnson or Larry Fitzgerald?
If a wide receiver from this upcoming draft class fits the mold of one of those perennial Pro Bowlers, then they'll by one of the first taken in the 2011 NFL Draft.
In the 2011 draft, there are huge wide outs with great hands, small wide outs with great speed, and a combination of the two.
Out of the 30 plus receivers who'll be taken in the draft, here are the first 10 who'll come off the board:
10. Greg Little
1 of 10
Stock Update: Greg Little isn't the fastest wide out running the 40 in about 4.5 seconds, but he's very talented. He reportedly caught virtually everything at his pro day and is really impressing teams.
He's a second round talent, but character concerns could cause him to slip.
Projection: 86th overall to the Kansas City Chiefs
9. Tandon Doss
2 of 10
Stock Update: Tandon Doss hasn't been able to run this offseason because of a bad groin. He'll run for teams April 6th, which could drastically affect his draft stock.
Game film is going to have to carry most of the weight when grading Doss as a prospect because of his injury.
Projection: 76th overall to the San Francisco 49ers
8. Randall Cobb
3 of 10
Stock Update: Randall Cobb is supposedly flying up draft boards and could even sneak into the first round, but I'm not buying it.
Cobb is electric with the ball in his hands. He could play receiver, returner, and possibly even some running back at the next level.
Projection: 61st overall to the San Diego Chargers
7. Jerrel Jernigan
4 of 10
Stock Update: Jerrel Jernigan ran an amazing 4.32 40 at his pro day. He was already seen as one of the most explosive players with the ball in his hands in this draft class, but now he's proven he's one of the fastest: period.
At 5'9", 185 pounds, could he be the next DeSean Jackson?
Projection: 60th overall to the New England Patriots
6. Titus Young
5 of 10
Stock Update: Titus Young was the one being compared to DeSean Jackson as he was tearing up the Senior Bowl. After running 40 times in the low 4.4s, his stock has simmered down a bit (sounds absurd doesn't it?).
Despite not being as fast at running in a straight line as receivers like Jernigan, Young has the route running ability to be selected higher.
Projection: 58th overall to the Baltimore Ravens
5. Leonard Hankerson
6 of 10
Stock Update: Not many players in the NFL are more coveted than big, fast wide receivers, and Leonard Hankerson is a big fast wide receiver. At 6'2", 209 pounds, he ran a 4.45 in the 40 yard dash.
If he works out well, he could go as high as 32nd overall to the Green Bay Packers.
Projection: 47th overall to the St. Louis Rams
4. Jonathan Baldwin
7 of 10
Stock Update: Once considered a first round lock, Jonathan Baldwin's stock has significantly dropped off. "Stiff" is not a word you want to hear linked to a wide out.
Still, his measurables are insane enough at 6'4", 228 pounds running a 4.45 forty with a 42 inch vertical and 10'9" broad jump to get him drafted high.
Projection: 37th overall to the Cleveland Browns
3. Torrey Smith
8 of 10
Stock Update: Torrey Smith's stock has really skyrocketed this offseason. He ran a 4.37 40 at the NFL Combine and didn't drop a pass at his pro day.
It would be pretty surprising if he made it out of the first round.
Projection: 27th overall to the Atlanta Falcons
2. Julio Jones
9 of 10
Stock Update: Julio Jones has done everything he possibly could to be taken sixth overall by the Cleveland Browns, but it still probably won't be enough.
He recorded a 4.39 40, 38.5 inch vertical, an 11'3" broad jump, all at 6'3", 220 pounds and on a broken foot. Inconsistent hands throughout his career may hurt him, but there's no way the Rams would pass on him at No. 14.
Projection: 10th overall to the Washington Redskins
1. A.J. Green
10 of 10
Stock Update: Besides Calvin Johnson, the best wide receiver prospect to enter the NFL Draft since Randy Moss.
Yeah, A.J. Green doesn't have the freakish numbers Julio Jones and Jonathan Baldwin have, but his elite ball skills distance himself from the rest of the pack as the undisputed No. 1 wide out. He didn't drop one pass at his pro day.
Projection: 4th overall to the Cincinnati Bengals
