WWE WrestleMania 27: 10 Reasons The Miz Will Top John Cena

Giulio RomanoJun 6, 2018

Hello Bleachers!

We are one week away from the greatest sports-entertainment extravaganza of all time. The show of shows is almost upon us and already we speculate on whom will truly shine on the grandest stage of them all. Can you feel it? Can you feel the awesomeness of WrestleMania XXVII?

Last November, we all witnessed what was deemed impossible: The Miz defeated Randy Orton to claim his first WWE championship by cashing in the coveted money-in-the-bank contract. I for one was ecstatic! The superstar I follow each and every week has done something even the late-greats Mr. Perfect and Rick Rude could not accomplish and that is winning the greatest prize in all of pro-wrestling.

Some views this as a fluke, others a joke, yet The Miz has made sure to hold on to the championship by any means necessary. Survivor Series, Royal Rumbles, Elimination Chambers could not undo the prosperous yet young Age of Awesome and now just a few days away from WrestleMania XXVII, The Miz’s title reign stands at over 125 days, longer than any reign since Triple H back in 2008. His is even longer than ANY reign of legends such as The Rock and longer than all of Edge’s reigns COMBINED.

His next challenge? The face of WWE...none other than John Cena himself. They have history which dates back to 2009 when The Miz went out on his own to make a name for himself and began a feud with an injured Cena claiming victory over his unanswered challenges week after week. John Cena eventually returned, faced off against The Miz and won the battle forcing the latter out of RAW entirely.

Time has passed as both men carried on with their careers. Cena won and lost countless WWE championships afterwards and headlined many pay-per-views. The Miz, for his part, recovered nicely. He regained his RAW status, won the United States championship and with the Big Show became the only man to hold three titles at once when ShoMiz won the Unified Tag Team championship from D-Generation X no less.

All signs point to The Miz becoming a fast, rising star within WWE. Winning the Money-in-the-bank last July elevated him to future main-event status. They gave him the ball in November and he has not stopped rolling with it since. The WWE and its officials have great faith in Mike Mizanin and the man delivers in and outside the ring...always!

In the main-event of WrestleMania XXVII, WWE Champion, The Miz, will defeat John Cena.

 Here are 10 reasons why...

No. 10 The Miz Needs This Victory

1 of 11

To further cement his legacy and his mark on WWE history The Miz must go over at Mania and over John Cena, the face of the company. He is the top heel and a great potential face in his young career. He has climbed the mountain from nothing and against all odds. Hard work and dedication will pay off. There are so many challengers waiting in the wings. Defeating the top dog in WWE will make him the most powerful of all superstars...storyline wise of course.

No. 9 John Cena Doesn’t Need This Victory

2 of 11

He is the face of WWE, the cash-cow of Vince McMahon and the top good-guy all the children look up to. A true hero shows humility and stands tall in defeat. If Cena is a true sportsman and team-worker as he claims then he must do this for The Miz as the others have done for him years ago.

He doesn't need the title to be the greatest. He is because people believe in him. It will be a day long remembered even IF he loses at Mania and there can only be one man with a WrestleMania streak and that is The Undertaker.

No. 8 John Cena Wins! Too Predictable?

3 of 11

They say anything can happen in the WWE. Well that is a perfect example of why The Miz will win.

No one really expects Miz to come out on top despite his recent successes over Cena the last four weeks. Many complain about WWE events being so repetitive and cry out for change and then it happens, Miz happens, to liven and freshen up the main-event scene and they still don’t believe.

Well to the sceptics, if Cena wins again, you have no one else to blame but yourselves. Enjoy the Cena ride.

No. 7 WWE Has Great Faith in Mike Mizanin a.k.a the Miz

4 of 11

Vince McMahon is a control and attention addict. He is a business man, a very successful business man whose word is law. He has the eye for talent and rewards those who prove their worth. Triple H, The Rock, Stone-Cold and John Cena are some prime examples of guys who make WWE their life and give all of you, the WWE Universe a reason to tune in every Monday.

The Miz is no different. He was given the ball because he works his butt off and makes every TV interview, every late night program and every live event he can to promote his company. He really wants this; it is his dream and WWE recognises this. Like all success stories, it took a chance on Mizanin.

No. 6 A Miz Face/John Cena Heel Turn Is Possible

5 of 11

All I keep reading here on Bleacher Report is WAAAH! When is Cena going to turn heel? WAAAH! Cena’s character is boring!

Are we done now?

This match is the most unpredictable match on the whole card. It can swing any way with any outcome because it is for the richest prize in the game, pitting the top face against the top heel at the moment. Each has his own fan base. Each has his own brand of products that sells like hot cakes. For Cena, you have as many boos as you have cheers while The Miz, even as a heel, gets great response when he either arrives or speaks.

It could go either way.

Personally, I do feel Cena needs to alter something about his persona just so we really don’t get bored with him. He doesn’t need to spit in all his fans faces though. For The Miz’s part, while I feel it may be early for a true face turn, recent live interviews and radio shows demonstrate that he is a funny, extroverted man who gets the crowd eating out of his hand. I love the character, but I am truly feeling the man lately.

No. 5 The Guest Host Is None Other Than Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson

6 of 11

We all know him and we all love him.The Rock is the guest host at this year’s event. There could not be a better person for the job.

It seems WWE was in need of something spectacular and bringing back the people’s champ was just the ticket. The Rock addressed some issues and delivered a message to John Cena for talking trash about him. This led Cena to retort and a war of words between the two megastars began, leaving a shadow upon the WWE Champion.

In the last few weeks, however, The Miz delivered his own brand of punishment to John Cena and even had a message for The Rock himself, making this now one of the most anticipated matches on the program.

Tonight on RAW The Rock will appear live and finally confront both parties.

What will be the outcome?

No. 4 The Rock Will Get Involved

7 of 11

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, he will!

Now this is only speculation, but Rock has made it clear via Twitter that he hasn’t ruled out a possible return to the ring, thus honouring his promise that he’d never leave again. I don’t know how far such words can go but anyone who has any brains can figure out the WWE officials are building up this huge battle somewhere down the line. You don’t need the WWE championship in there to make it great...this would be epic!

RAW tonight will make history!

Count on it and it will all come to light at Mania.

No. 3 The Rock vs. John Cena Will Happen

8 of 11

Somehow, somewhere it is going to happen.

I think in the main-event for the title at WrestleMania, The Miz will capitalize on a face-off or altercation between Cena and The Rock to retain the WWE championship. I also believe he will unfortunately be the recipient of both an Attitude Adjustment and a People’s Elbow...but the Rock Bottom is reserved for Cena.

This epic, clash of the titans match between John Cena and The Rock must happen in all logic. It is gold, money, a once in a lifetime opportunity.

No. 2 Extreme Rules 2011: Cena vs. Miz II the Final Showdown

9 of 11

There are way too many useless pay-per view events in WWE right now. It gets back to reason number one where I felt The Miz absolutely needs this victory.

The next event after Mania is Extreme Rules in May and since Miz needs a victory and Cena doesn’t then perhaps if Creative really NEEDS to get the belt off The Miz, a smaller pay-per view event is more likely where it will happen.

Remember 2009. Triple H had won his match against Randy Orton at the 25th anniversary of WrestleMania but lost the title at Backlash three weeks later. No one died, no one’s career was destroyed and nobody suffered from the loss. Lesson here Cena, show some humility and put someone over already!

By the way...the promotional poster for WWE Over The Limit on May 22nd has The Miz plastered all over it...a sign perhaps?

No. 1 Because He Is the MIZ and He Is Awesome!

10 of 11

He is my favourite superstar, the reason why I still watch WWE and YOUR WWE Champion plain and simple. I have complete faith in him and his talents both in and outside the ring. He will excel in this match. Both John Cena and The Miz will deliver a great performance and my man Miz will come out on top!

The WWE may screw up my divas division and my IC title prestige, but this is where it stops. The Miz is a worthy champion and is the top heel in WWE no doubt. His victory is at hand.

ENTER CONCLUSION The Miz = Young, Talented and the Future

11 of 11

I want him to win so the future can look brighter than it has in a long time...and he’s only 30.

Agree or disagree, I would definitely love to hear what you all have to say. Who do you think will come out on top? My money’s on WWE Champion, The Miz.
