Andrei Arlovski To Model 20 Affliction Products During EliteXC: Heat
First and foremost I need to give credit to cagepotato.com for the multiple t-shirt reference. See their article here.
Since Affliction's first event, Andrei Arlovski's name has been tied to a number of different opponents for a variety of different fights. First, it was reported that Arlovski would fight Fedor Emelianenko for Fedor's recently created WAMMA heavyweight belt at Afflcition's second event which was scheduled for October 11th.
Next, it was determined that the injury Fedor suffered murdering Tim Sylvia would sideline him beyond October 11th so plans were announced that Arlovski would be facing Josh Barnett to determine who would face Fedor once his hand was healed.
The remainder of the Affliction II card remained unfilled, tickets weren't selling, and since the buzz surrounding the event was nonexistent, Affliction pulled out of the October 11th date and announced they were postponing it, and then again, and now...well MMA fans are still waiting to hear exactly when, where, and who will be fighting.
In the middle of the Affliction scheduling mess, Arlovski was added to the October 4, EliteXC: Heat card. Speculation ran rampant that Affliction and EliteXC were forming a partnership, but this is not the case, (at least not yet) as Arlovski will be paid by Affliction to fight on the EliteXC card.
Arlovski will not be fighting Barnett, but rather Roy Nelson, a fighter from the now defunct International Fight League (IFL).
Arlovski's salary is rumored to be in the seven figure range which leads to the question, how can Affliction afford to pay Arlovski at least a million dollar salary without offsetting it with PPV money? Simple. Arlovski will wear 20 different Affliction products as he warms up, walks down, enters and exits the cage.
Here's a rundown of the Arlovski fashion show:
Wardrobe 1, pre-fight interview: Affliction reaping coat over Red Label series thermal, Shredded denim jeans, with Affliction Dragon boots, Vengeance beanie, Triple strap belt, and Fleur rings.
Wardrobe 2, extended arena entrance part 1: Affliction Platoon jacket over a Royalty t-shirt, Drowning shorts, Stacked studded hat, and a 925 Cardinal rosary necklace.
(costume change midway down the ramp where he'll throw his jacket, shirt and hat into the crowd to reveal a Flying V tank, and take a new hoodie and hat from his handlers)
Wardrobe 3, extended arena entrance part 2: Affliction Cut hoodie over a Flying V tank, Drowning shorts, Aces pinstripe hat, and the 925 Cardinal rosary necklace (which he'll take 15 seconds to take off before kissing it in front of the camera).
Wardrobe 4, fight results announcement/ fighter shout outs: (This one will be tricky to pull off but I think he's trained for it and should do fine) Affliction Live Fast leather jacket, Arlovski signature t-shirt, Evil hat, Skull crown necklace, and skull bracelet.
Whew.
Instead of the normal shout outs Arlovski will pull a Suzanne Sommers and talk about the quality and style of the items he modeled.
Finally he'll say, "Place your order for $2,000 or more in the next 30 minutes and you'll receive not one but two Affliction shoe horns absolutely FREE!"
