WWE News: Dancing Is Jericho! Ayatollah of Rock N Rolla Makes 'Dancing' Debut

Gone Baby GoneMar 22, 2011

While most wrestling fans were tuned into RAW last night to see their favorite wrestlers, one former WWE superstar was making his long anticipated dancing debut. For those of you that don't know, Chris Jericho traded in his wrestling boots for dancing shoes last night on ABC's Dancing With the Stars.

As much as I hate to say it, this move is a good one for Jericho. He is proving that he will and does have a career outside of wrestling. Granted, he already proved this with his band Fozzy and his two best-selling books. However, this really sets him apart and gives him a new untapped audience that may not know him.

This is not the first time that a former wrestler has partaken in the show. As most of you know, former WWE Diva Stacy Kiebler was on the show several years ago. Her appearance lead to several commercials and gave Kiebler a whole new world of opportunity outside of the ring.

In fact, the long-legged beauty gave Jericho some advice about being on the show.

Don't get me wrong, I would enjoy seeing Jericho step back in the ring.  However, at 40 he is on the back-end of what has been an amazing career. Lets face it, he has done everything there is to do in the world of wrestling. The only untapped market left for him is TNA and we all know that's not happening.

This move will allow him to retire gracefully or come back briefly as he did before and maintain his legacy. Instead of having his body rot in the ring as most wrestlers have done.

Can anyone honestly say that they want to see Jericho go the way of Hogan or Flair?

Both men were beloved by fans and now are looked at as washed-up and in dire need of retirement. If Jericho steps away now he can look back and be happy with what he has accomplished.

Jericho's WWE resume reads as follows:

  • Six-time WWE world champion
  • First-ever undisputed champion in the WWE
  • The only performer to have held six different titles in the 44-year history of the company.

Not too shabby, so let the man dance and try new things. While we reflect on the greatness that was his career.
