WWE: How the Rock Is Hurting His Own Credibility in His Feud with John Cena
It's time to pull out your Rock DVDs and dust them off. Fire up the computer and go on youtube. Type in something to the effect of "Rock Promo" and you can't go wrong. From about 1999 to about 2002-2003, there was no one in the WWE who could cut a promo like the Rock.
I'm not going to get into why Rocky left, or any of that, but I will say one thing. The Rock hasn't been the same since returning.
I will admit that I was just as "electrified" as every other fan when Rock's new music hit. A smile crept over my face that went from ear to ear. Then Rocky cut a 20-plus minute promo, and after that, the WWE universe has been tossed into a frenzy. The Rock didn't come back next week, which I thought was a decent move seeing as it would get people excited to hear from him again.

Two weeks after his initial return, he addressed the fans again via satellite. Many people loved to tune in and watch the Rock bash John Cena to pieces. Now that's all and well, because the fans can like whoever they want. The only problem is that in my personal belief, I think week by week, promo by promo, Rocky is hurting only himself.
Rocky's recent promos lack creativity. Everyone laughed when he told Cena he looked like "Barney's turd." We all laughed when he said that Cena looked like a bowl of fruity pebbles. However, what else has he said? Nothing. He keeps cutting promos and saying the same things. The Rock circa 2000 would have come up with new material by now. He would have come down to the ring, and challenged Cena to a match. I can understand that he's a busy guy, and he can't be on a RAW telecast every week. However, if he didn't have the time to put his all into a feud with the FACE OF THE COMPANY, he shouldn't have done it at all. Just host Mania and be objective.
The Rock had a great opportunity to give the fans what they wanted, and at the same time put Cena over and teach him a thing or two about entertaining a fan base that arguably hates him. Instead, he addresses a fan base via satellite that he told a few weeks ago that he would never leave.
I'm not smelling anything The Rock is cookin'.
