WWE SmackDown: How Vickie Guerrero Proved Us All Wrong

Gina GeatchesFeb 25, 2011

Shock waves were sent throughout the wrestling world on November 13, 2005 when Eddie Guerrero was found dead in his hotel room by his nephew.

Vince McMahon gave Vickie his word that he would continue to help and support her family.

Not long after, Vicki was taken on as a permanent on-screen character for WWE.

There was backlash by some fans.  Some thought she was taken on purely because people were upset over Eddie’s death.

Was she interested in the wrestling business? Could she act?

As time passed on Vickie became the general manager of SmackDown and the top heel of the show. Her segments would infuriate fans. Her character was the heel you would love to hate.

When Vickie aligned herself with Edge to become SmackDown’s top heel, a couple people began to see her true potential.  She knew how to annoy fans and she could do so within seconds.

Just hearing the simple phrase "excuse me" when she walks down the ramp boils my blood. You can’t help but want to hate her character and she makes you enjoy hating her.

It has become apparent that Vickie deserves a place in the WWE. Vickie and Eddie's eldest daughter, Shaul, recently signed a contract with WWE and Shaul is wrestling in their development-territory Florida Championship Wrestling.

With her family’s history in wrestling, fans have high hopes for the young star. And with Vickie having such a prominent role on SmackDown, Shaul is more than likely to be pushed when she debuts.

Vickie could have easily warned her daughters away from the wrestling business but she has not.

Why? Because she loves the business.
