WWE: 10 MMA Fighters I Would Like to See Fight in WWE
In the past, we've seen several MMA fighters compete in WWE: From "The World's Most Dangerous Man" Ken Shamrock and Dan "The Beast" Severn to the cocky former Tough Enough winner, Daniel Puder. And like wrestling fans seeing MMA fighters battle in the ring, MMA fight-goers have also seen their fair share of wrestlers making the switch to MMA, most notably Bobby Lashley and former UFC World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar. Here are 10 of the some best, if not bad ass MMA fighters I would like to see make the jump to WWE and probably challenge superstars like Cena, Orton, and especially The Undertaker.
10. Georges St. Pierre
1 of 12
First off, how cool would it be to have GSP in the WWE? If WWE ever have its own MMA Division(which they never will) or revert back to the Attitude days(highly likely), GSP would definitely be on board. Personally, this is one of my all-time fave MMA fighters and he would definitely should be legit (as all MMA fighters) in all his matches. I can pretty much see him having Maryse as a valet (since their both French-Canadian) and pretty much start a feud with Ted DiBiase and Daniel Bryan...It could happen.
Valet(s): Maryse
Feud(s): Ted DiBiase, Daniel Bryan, The Miz, The Undertaker
Brand(s): RAW
9. B.J. Penn
2 of 12
B.J. Penn would be a much added welcome on this list. B.J. Penn would be WWE's answer to TNA's Samoa Joe, even though Penn isn't as big as Joe in size. Penn, being a prodigy, should be treated as one. To me, Penn looks like he has the complete package to be a champion and he doesn't need to be a mouthpiece, just let the man fight and that will do all the talking.
Valet(s): None
Feud(s): Sheamus, "Dashing" Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, CM Punk, The Miz, The Undertaker
Brand(s): RAW
8. Dan Hardy
3 of 12
Ok, where to begin with Dan Hardy? As all of you know, he won't be like a Matt or Jeff Hardy but given the dude's history, I wouldn't be surprised by how crazy this guy is. He should be brought in as a hardcore type guy. Dan Hardy looks like an anarchist with that wild mohawk and he definitely would be a good heel drawing heat from the fans as much as possible.
Valet(s): None
Feud(s): Evan Bourne, John Morrison, Drew McIntyre, CM Punk, Randy Orton
Brand(s): Smackdown! or RAW
7. Cain Velasquez
4 of 12
WWE is no stranger to having Mexican talent reach the pinnacle of success: From legends like Tito Santana and Eddie Guerrero to current stars like Rey Mysterio, Chavo Guerrero, and Alberto Del Rio. And with Mistico, I mean, Sin Cara coming to WWE, it seems like the Latin demographic seems to be a huge market and hotbed for stars and Cain Velasquez is no exception. Velasquez has a amateur wrestling background and has developed and mixed different styles to incorporate it to his amateur wrestling skills. If pushed right, Velasquez would be a great World Champion like he is now in UFC. Velasquez would be a huge draw overall and can be brought up as a heel or face.
Valet(s): None
Feud(s): Alberto Del Rio, Chavo Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Sin Cara, Jack Swagger
Brand(s): Smackdown!
6. Rashad Evans
5 of 12
Another wrestler with a wrestling background. Evans would definitely be another draw to the WWE Universe. Evans looks like a guy who has mic skills, charisma, and some in ring ability to win over the crowd. Evans would also be added in feuds to put whoever over also, given the talent that's put in front of him. Picture him being more in an athletic feud with Kofi Kingston and Matt Striker making Shelton Benjamin like references regarding Evans.
Valet(s): None
Feud(s): R-Truth, Ezekiel Jackson, Kofi Kingston, Dolph Ziggler, Daniel Bryan, David Otunga
Brand(s): Smackdown!
5. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson
6 of 12
He's loud...He's boisterous...and he would make a great heel, garnering heat from most of the fans. Rampage would be one of the best heels WWE has to offer via UFC. Rampage is one of those guys you love to hate but hate to love all at the same time. He would be build up to be some sort of monster heel howling like a wolf. Make no mistake, Rampage would be on a "rampage" through the WWE.
Valet(s): None
Feud(s): R-Truth, JTG, Big Show, Chris Masters, David Otunga, John Cena, Randy Orton, CM Punk, Kane
Brand(s): RAW or Smackdown!
4. (Tie) Yushin Okami and Fedor Emelianenko
7 of 12
I couldn't decide who would get the #4 spot here but these two guys would be great to see. With Yushin Okami, he's fast and he can give a boost to fellow Japanese fighter Yoshi Tatsu as well as feuding with other lightweights (sans Hornswoggle). And with Fedor, since Vince likes big guys and wants them to excel, Fedor would definitely be a guy who should legitimately and I mean LEGITIMATELY be champion and shouldn't have a need to be made strong, 'cause he already is and for the love of God and all beings...don't make this guy dance or do something comedic. Fedor should also form a duo with Vladimir Kozlov being super heels.
Valet(s): None
Feud(s): Yoshi Tatsu, Evan Bourne, John Morrison, Tyson Kidd, Justin Gabriel(Yushin Okami).
Vladimir Kozlov, Santino Marella, Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, Wade Barrett, The Undertaker (Fedor)
Brand(s): RAW or Smackdown!
3. Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida
8 of 12
Machida would most likely be one of the guys to get pushed should he enter WWE. He definitely would get a huge pop from the fans and since his nickname is "The Dragon", I see him being "mentored" by Ricky Steamboat. I would've said Daniel Bryan but seeing Machida having Steamboat in his corner would be something of passing the torch from one dragon to another. Maybe even having a feud with Daniel Bryan for the right to be call "The Dragon" would be interesting as well.
Valet/Manager(s): Ricky Steamboat
Feud(s): Daniel Bryan, Alberto Del Rio, CM Punk, Edge, Kofi Kingston, John Morrison, Randy Orton, The Miz, Dolph Ziggler, The Undertaker
Brand(s): Smackdown!
2. "The Spider" Anderson Silva
9 of 12
I'm not kidding about this. Anderson Silva in WWE would draw huge numbers. He'll be the only reason why referees would resort to using a 10 count other than for when the wrestler is outside the ring. Lightning quick, deceptive, and can hurt you in so many ways, Silva would be "That Dude" in WWE. Quite frankly, I can see that happening.
Valet/Manager(s): None
Feud(s): Kofi Kingston, Alberto Del Rio, Jack Swagger, Dolph Ziggler, John Morrison, The Miz, John Cena, CM Punk, The Undertaker
Brand(s): Smackdown!
1. Brock Lesnar
10 of 12
Who better than Brock Lesnar to return to WWE and actually garner some major heel heat. He would more than likely come back to say that he has "unfinished business" and looks towards the WrestleMania logo and call out The Undertaker. It would be a perfect set-up since the picture above would give us a whole explanation by itself as to what would've gone down. And given The Undertaker's evolution in the WWE, we've seen him go from Phenom to Ministry to American Bad Ass to Deadman and now it would be setting for his gimmick to that of an MMA Bad Ass. It can happen since Undertaker uses the Hell's Gate or Gogoplata and is regarded as one of the "purest strikers" in the WWE. That's something you would hear describing an MMA fighter's style of fighting, not to mention that Undertaker's stance is like that of a MMA fighter. Either way you look at it, Lesnar vs. Undertaker would be a WrestleMania type main event, even if it has that UFC feel to it.
Valet/Manager(s): Sable (that would be awesome)
Feud(s): The Undertaker, John Cena, Randy Orton
Brand(s): RAW or Smackdown!
Honorable Mention: Ken Shamrock
11 of 12
Aside from Brock Lesnar, I would love to see Ken Shamrock appear on WWE TV again. And even though WWE right now is in the PG era, it would be nice to just have that Attitude Era nostalgia seeing Shamrock walk down the aisle and before he even got in the ring, would hit himself in the head twice and yell loudly, letting his opponent know that his ass is grass and that he stands no chance. It would also be great to see him and Jack Swagger feud over who has the best Ankle Lock in all of wrestling (with some mentioning to Kurt Angle). My edge would go straight to Shamrock. And with Ken Shamrock back with WWE, even though it's still toned down, would bring back the Lion's Den matches. That would give WWE the ratings boost it so highly desires.
Valet/Manager(s): None
Feud(s): Jack Swagger, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk
Brand(s): RAW (for nostalgic value)
Conclusion
12 of 12
So there you have it, my top 10 MMA fighters I would love to see in WWE. Even if it's for promotional or mid-term contract, it would give both fans, WWE Universe and UFC fans much to discuss and converse amongst each other. That's all for now, Bleachers. Feel free to comment because like I always say "the ring is open and so are the smackdowns!
