NFL Insider: Who the Top Five Teams Will Be in 2011

Bryan DietzlerFeb 20, 2011

The NFL season is over, and everybody is already thinking about which teams will be reign in 2011.

Will there be any surprises next year?  Will the same teams be the strongest teams again, or will an underdog overtake the pack?

Let’s take a look at the five teams that should be able to climb to the top of the NFL next season and have the best shot at getting to the Super Bowl.

1.  Green Bay Packers

The Packers have the base to field an excellent team again in 2011.  They shouldn’t lose too many players to free agency, and are young enough not to have to worry about anyone retiring in the near future.

Without many holes to fill, the Packers are the front-runner to represent the NFC in next year's Super Bowl.

2.  Pittsburgh Steelers

This team has some work to do during the offseason if they hope to return to the Super Bowl.  They need to improve their offensive line, and both add depth and ensure the health of their defense.

Too many teams slip after a trip to the Super Bowl. Pittsburgh can't afford this mistake, and that's why they'll make the necessary moves this offseason.

3.  Philadelphia Eagles

If the Eagles are able to take care of their problems on defense and on the offensive line, they should be able to be a strong contender in 2011.

Red-hot Michael Vick has just been been given the franchise tag as of this writing.

But can he stay healthy enough to get his team back into the playoffs?  If he can, then the Eagles might make it all the way to the Super Bowl next season.

4.  New England Patriots

The Patriots should always be in this conversation.

After failing to make it to the Super Bowl this season, you can bet that head coach Bill Belichick will have all the motivation he needs to whip the Patriots into championship shape.  Next year, Belichick won't just settle for the playoffs—he'll push his players for  another run at the Super Bowl.

5.  Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens keep making—and getting stopped in—the playoffs.  With a few offseason adjustments, you can bet this team will be right back in the playoffs and could quite possibly reach the Super Bowl.

Granted, they do play in the same division as Pittsburgh. For the Ravens to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl next season, they will need to overwhelm the mighty Steelers.

Is there a team missing from this list?  Do you think another team deserves to be here over one of these five teams?  Please share your thoughts.
