Grant Wahl (who is a Sports Illustrated journalist) has decided to run for the FIFA presidency against Sepp Blatter and Mohammed Bin Hamman.

The elections for FIFA president are to occur in June of 2011. Blatter is hoping to be re-elected to another term.

Bin Hamman is expected to run against Blatter and hopes to be elected.

What can the three offer?

Blatter (during his period) may have had good intentions, but he has been out of touch with reality. He also has changed his mind many times during the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cup selection.

The amount of corruption in the World Cup selection during his term in office leaves much to be desired. Bin Hamman will only offer the same thing since he is also part of the problem.

I support the candidacy of Wahl for the presidency of FIFA based on the following promises which ring in my ear:

  1. The introduction of goal line technology.
  2. The abolition of quotas for different nationalities when it comes to the appointment of referees for the World Cup.
  3. The appointment of a woman in the position of secretary general for FIFA.
  4. The release of documents related to the past dealings by FIFA.
  5. Abolition of yellow cards for goal-scoring celebrations.

I also support the candidacy of Wahl because of the need to change FIFA.

The candidacy of Wahl needs one nomination by April in order to have a viable candidacy.

Can Wahl do it? Let's see in the months to come.
