Alistair Overeem Thinks M-1 Ruined Fedor Emelianenko's Career
Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem said what everyone in the MMA world was thinking: M-1 Global ruined the career of Fedor Emelianenko.
Alistair started off by giving props to the winner, Antonio Silva.
"A lot of people want my view about Fedor his fight. 'Fedor has fought like a lion and never gave up, felt sorry for him because it was hard to watch the GOAT lose like that, respect to Bigfoot Silva great performance on his part.'" Overeem said via his Twitter account.
Overeem went on to say the most obvious thing: that M-1 ruined Fedor's career.
"@TFT_MMA Dana is Dana and this was something you could expect. M-1 gambled big time and they lost. M-1 turned down a big UFC contract for big $$$. I believe in karma and M-1 was bad karma and it resulted in Fedor losing.. M-1 ruined his career and played with Fedor legacy, too bad!!!" Overeem said.
It's true what Overeem says. It's not Fedor's fault he didn't get to fight the best in MMA by going to the UFC.
It's only the fault of his management group, M-1 Global. They wanted the moon and the sun from the UFC and left with absolutely nothing.
Now, with Fedor's career on the ropes, it looks like the UFC made the best decision by walking away from the very lucrative offer that would have graced Fedor.
Now, Fedor losing to what some view as the second tier of MMA fighters has decimated the view on his career and sparked debate about whether he is the greatest of all-time.
Overeem himself said it best:
"Fedor is legend and always be a legend. Nothing then respect for Fedor!" Overeem said.
M-1 Global is responsible for the demise of Fedor's career, not Fedor. Fedor could have fought some legit talent the last two years and been involved indefinitely in talks as the greatest MMA fighter of all-time.
Now after two consecutive losses and the mystique of Fedor now gone, it seems hard that Fedor will ever grace the UFC Octagon with his presence.
