NFL Two-A-Days: Previewing the 2011 Offseason for the Cincinnati Bengals

Ryan FryeFeb 15, 2011

5. Will often injured QB Carson Palmer regain his old form?

I don't think he will. He had the serious knee injury a while back and still hasn't fully recovered from it.

The bigger question is, will Palmer will remain in Cincinnati? He has demanded out, and if he's not traded, he'll retire. To be honest, I can't blame him. He's been in a circus for quite a while now.

I don't see the Bengals trading Palmer, and Palmer is in the process of selling his house. It seems like whatever happens, it will take a long time to resolve.

4. Who will line up at WR for the Bengals in 2011: TO, Ochocinco, both or neither?

I'm going to say neither. Terrell Owens had a good season, but he is getting pretty old.

Chad whatever-his-last-name-is is also on the decline. He has been making noise about getting out of Cincinnati for a while now, and I think that this will finally be when it happens.

3. Who or where is the emotional leader of the Bengals' defense?

It's difficult to say when you're not inside the locker room.

My guess would be Rey Malaluga. He's still young, but he's likely the best player on the Bengals' defense and is the middle linebacker.

The defense itself ranked middle of the pack in almost all of the statistical categories. The offense is a different story.

2. What is the Bengals' top priority in the NFL Draft and/or free agency?

Everything depends on what happens with Palmer, as well as Ochocinco and Owens.

If they like him, Missouri QB Blaine Gabbert could be in the cards. This would require Palmer to retire, be traded or be released.

AJ Green is also a possibility, depending on if Ochocinco and/or Owens leave. Green has been compared to Randy Moss by numerous people.

1. Stock: Rising or Falling?

The Bengals are a mess. With the Palmer situation, the rest of the offense having big question marks, a middle of the pack defense and coach who has struggled with being consistent, I wouldn't be shocked to see them with the No. 1 pick in 2011.  Falling.

I will be previewing two teams every weekday until it culminates with the Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers. To view past previews, go to my archives section. Thanks for reading!
