WWE: How the Undertaker's Streak Could Have Ended Before It Began

ReDevilFeb 12, 2011

The Road to WrestleMania has begun.

WrestleMania is known for providing some of the greatest moments in sports entertainment history and rightfully so. Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Pete Rose, Donald Trump  and many other celebrities have been a part of WrestleMania.

However, those names pale in comparison to the name of one man. The Phenom, the Deadman, the Undertaker.

Mark Callaway aka the Undertaker is without a shadow of a doubt, the single biggest attraction of WrestleMania. Every year, millions watch as Undertaker makes superstar after superstar, icon after icon more famous than they already are.

It is very safe to say that "The Streak" has become the biggest part of WrestleMania, and in recent years it's what made the event a true WrestleMania.

1) Hulk Hogan

During his time in the WWF, he made Vince McMahon a very rich man. In fact, he is the reason why WrestleMania became as successful as it is. Hulk Hogan was the definition of wrestling back in the 80's and 90's.

Whether it be the red and yellow American Hero or the black and white leader of the nWo, whatever Hogan touched turned to gold.

Undertaker has faced Hogan before, and 'Taker has beaten Hogan. Undertaker won his first WWE Championship from Hulk Hogan and he beat Hogan again for the Undisputed Championship.

However, if Hulk Hogan had faced The Undertaker at WrestleMania, I'm afraid he would have dropped the leg on the Deadman and pinned him one, two, three on the grandest stage of all.

2) Shawn Michaels

Surprised to see him? Well don't be. But how can that be? Undertaker beat Shawn Michaels twice at WrestleMania. He even ended the man's career.

Yes, he did that, but Undertaker beat the born-again Christian Shawn Michaels not The Heart Break Kid Shawn Michaels.

The Shawn Michaels that Undertaker faced still was the Heart Break Kid, but he did not live up to that name like he had before.

Had the Shawn Michaels who lived up to his moniker of HBK faced Undertaker at WrestleMania, I have no doubt in my mind that he would have beaten the Phenom.

3) Stone Cold Steve Austin

You knew he had to be in this list. Since Stone Cold won the WWE Championship, he has only lost one match at WrestleMania. And when Stone Cold won the WWE Championship, he became the biggest star in WWE History.

"Talk about your psalms, Talk about John 3:16. Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass!" Even if I get the worst case of amnesia, I'm pretty damn sure I'll still remember that.

Hulk Hogan might have created wrestling, but Stone Cold grabbed Hogan's creation by the throat and turned it into Attitude.

Stone Cold was the biggest reason why WWF beat WCW, he probably made Vince McMahon almost the same or even more money than Hulk Hogan ever did, and he was the biggest star in the business during his heyday.

Undertaker and Stone Cold had wars in the past but none of them were at WrestleMania, and if Stone Cold had faced Undertaker at 'Mania, then after the dust settled down, we'd see Stone Cold standing up on his feet drinking beer over the deadman's body.

4) The Rock

He entertained millions... and millions all around the world. He used the WWE to step into the world of Hollywood. He became a legend within five years and he loves pie.

Rocky was the only man in the world to ride neck and neck with Stone Cold. If the topic of the greatest WWE Champions of all time were to come up then the Rock would be on many people's list.

In his fourth year or so in the company, when many people were trying to make it to the big leagues, the Rock was already in a position where he could help other superstars become big.

When Stone Cold went away with a neck injury, The Rock took Austin's place in the WWF and he ran with the wagon.

So, the Rock vs the Undertaker. Wrestlemania. Icon vs Icon.

If that had happened then we'd see a chokeslam, a spinebuster, a last ride, a people's elbow, a tombstone, a rock bottom, another rock bottom, a third rock bottom, a people's elbow and the Rock saluting his millions after a classic.

5) Brock Lesnar

The Next Big Thing. Nobody has made such an impact in the wrestling business like Brock Lesnar. The guy was strapped on with rockets and pushed beyond the moon.

The Rock, Kurt Angle, Hulk Hogan, are just some of the big names that Lesnar beat. Brock Lesnar had tremendous rivalries with the likes of Kurt Angle, Big Show and The Undertaker. Let me even say this, Smackdown was at its peak under Brock Lesnar and it very well could have been the A-Show.

However, even though he was labeled as the next big superstar, he decided that the WWE is not where is wants to be and he left carrying a lot of heat.

We had seen an altercation between him and one of his greatest rivals, The Undertaker, at UFC 121. With Undertaker appearing at UFC 121 hours before a WWE PPV, rumors began flying like crazy about Lesnar vs 'Taker at WrestleMania.

Even though that is not a possibility it would still have been great. And if Lesnar had agreed to face 'Taker at 'Mania this year, he would walk out of WrestleMania with a huge paycheck and a loss.

However, if Lesnar had faced Undertaker at 'Mania during his time in the WWE in the early 2000's then I don't think Undertaker could have beaten the big bad animal who loves to bring the pain.
