Brett Favre: Dancing with the Stars and 10 Things Favre Should Do in Retirement
Brett Favre (finally) appears to be ready to ride off into the sunset. He had the worst year of his career in 2010, and he seems resigned to the fact that his 20 years in the NFL were good enough.
It's been a struggle to get to this point for Favre, who has tried to retire about 342 times before, but was unable to stay away from the game and the spotlight for very long.
Where's Favre going to go without football? What is he to do with all this free time that he has on his hands?
There are rumors floating around that "Dancing with the Stars" could approach him to be a part of the show sometime in the future. Whether Favre would want to do something like that remains to be seen.
It's not like that's his only option. He's still one of the most well-known football players in the world, and he will have his choice of things to do in the future.
Here are 10 possible things that Favre could do in his retirement from the NFL.
"Dancing with the Stars"
1 of 10
What do all C-list celebrities do when they want to get their name in the headlines?
"Dancing with the Stars," of course.
There's little doubt that Favre loves the spotlight, and the show is one of the highest rated on television, so it makes sense that the two sides would find each other.
Whether Favre would do himself any favors on the show would be a completely different story. Plus, having never seen him dance, it's hard to say how successful he would be doing the show.
If he dances the same way that he plays, things could get ugly. He wasn't the most fundamentally smart player, but was able to improvise a lot. There are some dances out there that would suit that kind of style. If Favre can pull it off remains to be seen.
Wrangler Commercials

Favre's been doing commercials for Wrangler for a long time already, so why shouldn't he churn out a couple of more?
It keeps his face on television, and it will make him a lot of money. He doesn't necessarily need money, but everyone wants to make more money.
Ride His Tractor
3 of 10
Favre is Mississippi born and bred. He loves being a southern boy, and it's entirely possible that he could just go home and ride his tractor for the rest of his life.
Given how big his ego is, it's doubtful that he would be able to stay on his tractor and stay out of the spotlight for very long.
Perhaps he can get an advertising deal with John Deere or something like that in a 60-second spot that just has him driving around on his tractor.
ESPN Analyst
4 of 10
For the record, I don't think that Favre would make a good football analyst, but that hasn't stopped ESPN from hiring awful analysts before.
They hired Emmitt Smith, who was one of the worst analysts in recent memory. So why not give Favre a shot?
One of the biggest stars in the NFL as a member of the biggest sports news company in the entire world sounds like a match made in ego-heaven.
The problem is that he doesn't seem to care enough about the sport outside of what he does in order to be effective as an analyst. Still, it would be fun to see him competing with Keyshawn Johnson every Sunday morning for airtime on NFL Countdown.
Author
5 of 10
Favre would probably need someone to write the book, but he could tell the story for an author. I'm not saying that he can't spell, but he doesn't seem like the type to sit down and write a book.
That being said, he is a very frank, matter of fact person, at least from what we have seen in interviews. He could parlay that candid attitude into an autobiography.
He couldn't sugarcoat anything that happened in his life; it would have to be told like it is. Some people like to paint themselves as true heroes in their autobiography, but when you read it, you can tell that there's B.S. in that book just to make the writer feel better.
If he is to write a book, he needs to make it honest and tell things as they happened.
Motivational Speaker
6 of 10
Favre wouldn't be a very boisterous motivational speaker, a la Matt Foley, but he has that quiet coolness about him.
He has had his demons in the past, and he could make the rounds with people who are having similar issues in their life and let them know how he was able to get help.
NFL Assistant Coach (No, Seriously)
7 of 10
Sure, Favre was not the best mentor to younger quarterbacks on his teams (see: Aaron Rodgers). However, if he misses the game enough, he could find a home as an assistant coach.
He would have to convince a lot of people that he's actually dedicated to being a good coach, most likely a quarterbacks coach.
This move would be dependent on Favre's willingness and ability to talk to a quarterback about the position and being a mentor to the player.
Cell Phone Pitchman
8 of 10
This one is a little mean-spirited, but what's life without a little whimsy, right?
Favre made a lot of noise this season for his off-field exploits involving former New York Jets employee Jenn Sterger. Whether all the allegations are true or not is something that we may never know.
Favre has poked fun at himself already in the Sears commercial where he waffles on buying a television. Why not poke a little fun at the incident involving the cell phone, and get paid to do it?
NFL Ambassador
9 of 10
It may not be an official job, but surely something could be worked out between Favre and the NFL.
The job would be so insanely simple that even he could do it without screwing it up. All that he would be doing is traveling to a couple places every single year and be a shill for the league.
The NFL made Favre into a star, and he made a lot of money as a result. The least he could do is a couple of appearances for the league.
Quarterback for the United Football League
10 of 10
The 2010 season showed that Favre really doesn't have enough left in the tank to be a good NFL quarterback. He struggled all season long, and even his legendary streak came to an end in December.
But let's be honest: He doesn't want to retire. He's being forced into retirement because of his age and performance. If he could, he would play in the NFL until he was 60.
Fortunately, when one door closes another one opens.
Favre could take his talents to the UFL. It would fit; there are a number of washed up NFL quarterbacks already playing in that league, like Jeff Garcia and Daunte Culpepper. What's one more former NFL guy who couldn't play anymore?
Plus, it would be a win-win situation for that league because it would get them massive mainstream exposure. Favre would be the golden child of the league, and we all know how much he loves that.
The UFL and Brett Favre would be a match made in Heaven.
