NFL Rumors: Tennessee Titans Set to Make Mike Munchak Head Coach

Rumor has it that the Tennessee Titans are just about set to appoint Mike Munchak the head coach of their football team.

Munchak has served as the Titans offensive line coach for the past 14 season and has been a legend within the organization for years.

Munchak is a former first-round draft pick by the Oilers in 1982 and spent his whole Hall of Fame career with the franchise. 

He played in 159 regular season games, 10 playoff games and his No. 63 jersey was retired, making him one of only four Oilers players be honored as such.

He was considered to be one of the most respected offensive line coaches in the league. His lines were always one of the best in the NFL, despite only once having the same starting five on the line in his 14 years, and he's produced four Pro Bowlers with a total of 10 invites between them.

His line was key in helping running back Chris Johnson reach the 2,000 yard mark a season ago and as a testament to Munchak’s coaching, the Titans have produced five 1,000 yard rushers over the past seven seasons: Eddie George, Chris Brown, Travis Henry, LenDale White and Chris Johnson

Mike Munchak has an incredibly impressive resume, but now the question is: How will it all translate to the head coaching position?

Tennessee will undoubtedly put a great emphasis on running the ball and pass protection, but just who exactly will they be protecting?

There are tons of questions surrounding this team, so Munchak is really going to be put to the test often and early.

How will he handle the draft?

How will he handle the added responsibility of being a head coach without even experiencing the toll of being a coordinator?

These questions and more will have to be answered, and hopefully Tennessee will be rewarded by their bold move to promote within the organization.

Munchak is coach number 16 for the franchise and will have big shoes to fill in the wake of Jeff Fisher.
