Why the Brewers aren't making the playoffs?

Thomas H.Sep 21, 2008

BREWERS

The Brewers just don't have it in them. Down 2.5 games to the New York Mets and just seven games left in the regular season, the Brewers need a strong end to the season to get to the playoffs. Plus, with a new coach and Ned Yost gone, the teams clubhouse has to be a pretty quiet place right now.

CC Sabathia got his first loss since coming to Milwaukee. That has to be disheartening to everyone. Even though the Pirates are up next against the Brewers, then they have to face the Cubs to finish the season. Those three games are against the best team in the National League and I don't see them pulling out wins.

METS

Oh, they will go to the playoffs, just not at the top of their division. I agreed when people said they needed Billy Wagner, but I still saw them as a contender in the NL East. Then I saw their last games.

Whoa, they have four games against the Mighty Cubs.

Then they have the Marlins who come and who are currently 9-1 in their last ten games!

I realize that the last 7 games are at Shea Stadium and they will try to win the last games for Shea, but against those kind of teams? They might go 3-4 in those games, and will beat the Brewers to the Wild Card, but the Phillies should know that they got this division covered.

I see the Mets coming into October and playing those Cubs, but I don't doubt their chances of winning when I watch MVP candidate Carlos Delgado and the speedy Reyes play.

Then I see how the pitcher Pelfrey's season and how good his time was in the winning days of July. The Mets have a good chance to go all the way.

PHILLIES

They will make it. The last games they have are against weak teams of the mediocre Braves and the awful Nationals. These last six games will go well for the streaking Phillies and they will win their division. With a power hitter like Howard whose had a huge season and a guy who can do anything like Chase Utley, it's hard to see them losing. Oh, and did I forget to say the former MVP Jimmy Rollins?

They are good, and I think that when they play a team like the Dodgers in the playoffs, I see them winning. I wish the Phillies good luck and I see them going to the National League Championship Series (NLCS) easily.

I can't wait to see how these close races end. I'll see you next time.
