Super Bowl Prop Bets: A Great Way to Have Fun With the Big Game

One of the best parts of the Super Bowl every year is looking at the silly things that you can bet on leading up to the big game. This year is no different.

Here we count down 25 silly things that people are able to bet on this year.

From the color of the Gatorade to the length of the National Anthem, we cover them all here and give you our picks for each of them.

Read on and let us know what you think. Are you putting your dough on any of these props?

25. Will There Be a Score in the First 6 Minutes and 30 Seconds

1 of 25
SEATTLE, WA - NOVEMBER 28: Wide receiver Dwayne Bowe #82 of the Kansas City Chiefs looks at the referee after scoring his first touchdown against Kelly Jennings #21 of the Seattle Seahawks at Qwest Field on November 28, 2010 in Seattle, Washington. (Phot

Bet: Will there be a score in the first 6 min 30 seconds of the first quarter?

Yes (-130)

No (Even)

Pick: I am taking No in this one for even money. While it may seem like a no-brainer that there would be a score in the first six minutes and 30 seconds of the game, Super Bowls have a tendency to start slowly.

Each team will have a feeling out drive or so before the scoring starts, and I think that feeling out phase lasts at least six minutes and 30 seconds.

24. Will Aaron Rodgers Have More Yards Than Brett Favre From Super Bowl XXXI?

2 of 25
GREEN BAY, WI - NOVEMBER 11: Brett Favre #4 of the Green Bay Packers talks with Aaron Rodgers #12 during the game against the Minnesota Vikings give chase on November 11, 2007 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. (Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Imag

Bet: Historical Matchup - Total Passing Yards, which will be higher?

Aaron Rodgers Super Bowl XLV -29 1/2 (-135)

Brett Favre Super Bowl XXXI 246 yards +29 1/2 (+105)

Pick: There are a bunch of these historical matchup props and all of them are a little interesting.

If you are going over with this one Rodgers has to throw for 276 yards or more. I am putting my money on Rodgers here. The Steelers' secondary is not good enough to keep his numbers down.

23. Will Aaron Rodgers Have More TDs Than Brett Favre From Super Bowl XXXI?

3 of 25
ATLANTA - NOVEMBER 13: Brett Favre #4 of the Green Bay Packers celebrates after a touchdown against the Atlanta Falcons during their game on November 13, 2005 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Streeter Lecka/Getty Images)

Bet: Historical Matchup - Total TD Passes, which will be higher?

Aaron Rodgers Super Bowl XLV (Even)

Brett Favre Super Bowl XXXI 2 TD Passes (-130)

Pick: I am going with Rodgers here again. I like the money line for him more than Favre's. I also think that Rodgers has a great chance of having a huge game.

Rodgers would need three touchdowns to win this bet, but I think that is a safe one.

22. Will Rogers Have a Higher Completion Percentage Than Favre?

4 of 25

Bet: Historical Matchup - Completion Percentage, which will be higher?

Aaron Rodgers Super Bowl XLV -11.5% (-115)

Brett Favre Super Bowl XXXI (51.8%) +11.5% (-115)

Pick: So for Rodgers to win this one he would need to complete 63.3 percent of his passes. That number may seem high, but Rodgers was under that completion percentage just six times in the regular season and playoffs.

I am taking Rodgers yet again here. The Steelers' defensive weakness is their secondary and I think Rodgers exploits that.

21. Will Ben Roethlisberger Have More Yards Than in Super Bowl XL?

5 of 25

Ben Roethlisberger of the Steelers during Super Bowl XL between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan on February 5, 2006. (Photo by Allen Kee/Getty Images)

Bets: Historical Matchup - Total Passing yards, which will be higher?

Ben Roethlisberger XLV -115.5 yards (-120)

Ben Roethlisberger XL (123 yards) +115.5 (-110)

Picks: Ben Roethlisberger has two Super Bowl rings, but is yet to actually have a good game during a Super Bowl. In Super Bowl XL (his first) he had just 123 yards passing yet somehow managed a win.

If you pick Roethlisberger for this year he would need to throw for 239 yards. Not that tough of a number. I think the smart money is on Roethlisberger this year.

20. Will Ben Roethlisberger Have More Yards Thank in Super Bowl XLIII?

6 of 25
TAMPA, FL - FEBRUARY 01: Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger #7 of the Pittsburgh Steelers throws a pass against the Arizona Cardinals during Super Bowl XLIII on February 1, 2009 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Steelers won 27-23. (Photo by Chris

Bet: Historical Matchup - Total Passing yards, which will be higher?

Ben Roethlisberger XLV +15 1/2 (-115)

Ben Roethlisberger XLVIII (256 yards) -15 1/2 (-115)

Pick: This one actually gives some leeway to this year's version of Roethlisberger. He needs just 240 yards to win the bet. So when you look at the two Roethlisberger historical bets, if you feel confident with one, then you might as well put money on it twice.

Luckily this is the last Historical Matchup bet, but there are some interesting possibilities.

19. What Will The First Turnover Be?

7 of 25
CHICAGO, IL - JANUARY 23: Sam Shields #37 of the Green Bay Packers intercepts the game's final pass and runs for 32-yards to seal the 21-14 victory for the Packers against the Chicago Bears in the NFC Championship Game at Soldier Field on January 23, 201

Bet: The First Turnover of the Game will be?

Fumble (+125)

Interception (-145)

No Turnover In Game (+800)

Pick: These two teams played last year in week 15 in a high-scoring classic—the interesting thing from the game was the fact that there was no turnovers in the game.

While it would be incredible if no turnovers happened again, that is what I would put money on. The money line looks really good and the fact that these teams are good at holding onto the ball makes it feel like a good bet.

18. Which Direction Will The First Missed Field Goal Go?

8 of 25
LANDOVER, MD - OCTOBER 10: Kicker Mason Crosby #2 and punter and placekick holder Tim Masthay #8 of the Green Bay Packers react to Crosby's missed field goal in the fourth quarter that would have won the game against the Washington Redskins at FedExField

Bet: The first Missed Field goal of the game will be?

Wide left (-120)

Wide right (+110)

Short or blocked (+1000)

Pick: That short or blocked money line looks pretty great. While I understand that most field goals are missed to the left, I would put money on short or blocked.

Both teams have decent enough kickers that a missed field goal may seem unlikely, but if I had to put money on it, that is where I would put it.

17. Will Aaron Rodgers Have More Completions Than Dwyane Wade Has Points?

9 of 25
ORLANDO, FL - FEBRUARY 03: Guard Dwyane Wade #3 of the Miami Heat drives against the Orlando Magic at Amway Arena on February 3, 2011 in Orlando, Florida. NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledges and agrees that, by downloading and or using this photogr

Bet: What will be higher on February 6th 2011?

Aaron Rodgers Completions +1 (-105)

Dwyane Wade Points -1 (-125)

Pick: Aaron Rodgers has averaged just over 21 completions per game this year not counting the games missed due to injury. Dwyane Wade is averaging over 25 points per game and on Super Sunday his Heat take on the Los Angeles Clippers.

I think Wade could go for 40 points. No matter how good a game Rodgers has I think Wade has more points than Rodgers' completions.

16. Which Percent Will Be Higher Rodger's Completions Or Dwight Howard's FTs?

10 of 25
ORLANDO, FL - MAY 18: Dwight Howard #12 of the Orlando Magic attempts a free throw against the Boston Celtics in Game Two of the Eastern Conference Finals during the 2010 NBA Playoffs at Amway Arena on May 18, 2010 in Orlando, Florida. NOTE TO USER: Use

Bet: What will be higher on February 6th 2011?

Aaron Rogers Completion Percentage -6% (-115)

Dwight Howard Free Throw Percentage +6% (-115)

Pick: Howard and the Magic head to Boston to take on the Celtics Sunday. I think Howard will head to the line quite a few times and that usually doesn't mean success for Orlando's big man. He had a season free throw percentage of just 58%.

I think Rodgers is the pick here. He will complete a higher percentage of passes than Howard makes free throws.

15. Will The Dow Go Up Or Down on Monday?

11 of 25

Bet: What will happen with the Dow Jones the day after the Super Bowl?

Market up (-140)

Market down (even)

Pick: I am not a stock broker and I don't pretend to know what is going on with the stock market, but for some reason you are able to bet on what the market will do the day after the Super Bowl.

Just because I am generally a positive person I will say the market goes up.

14. Which Brand Will the Highest Rated Commercial Be For?

12 of 25

Bet: Which Super Bowl commercial will have a higher rating on USA Today's annual Ad Meter?

Bud light (11/4)

Budweiser (3/1)

Doritos (11/2)

GoDaddy.com (10/1)

Pepsi Max (6/1)

Sketchers (12/1)

Teleflora (16/1)

Other (7/4)

Pick: I would put my money on either Bud light or Doritos. They both seem to really step up their game during Super Bowl commercials.

Honestly though, how is it that someone can bet on something like this? Have to love Super Bowl time.

13. How Many Times Will the Lockout Be Mentioned?

13 of 25
DALLAS, TX - FEBRUARY 04: NFL commissioner Roger Goodell speaks during a press conference at the Super Bowl XLV media center on February 4, 2011 in Dallas, Texas. The Green Bay Packers will play the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLV on February 6, 20

Bet: How Many Times will FOX mention “Lockout” on TV during the Game?

Over 1 1/2 (-130)

Under 1 1/2 (-110)

Pick: Take the over. Good lord take the over.

This could possibly be the last NFL football game for quite a long time. That is going to be huge news, and I fully expect the suits at Fox to beat this one into the ground.

12. Will Offense or Defense Be the Ones To Dump the Gatorade?

14 of 25
TAMPA, FL - FEBRUARY 01: James Harrison #92 of the Pittsburgh Steelers pours Gatorade over head coach Mike Tomlin and James Farrior #51 after the Steelers won 27-23 against the Arizona Cardinals during Super Bowl XLIII on February 1, 2009 at Raymond Jame

Bet: What side of the ball will the players that perform the Gatorade Shower be from?

Offense (+150)

Defense (-200)

Pick: This one is a coin flip, or at least that's how it feels. Vegas apparently thinks that defensive players are more likely to be the ones to dump the Gatorade, but I am going against the grain.

I would put my money on offensive players giving the Gatorade dump. I can't really say why I think that; I just do.

11. Will B.J. Raji Be on the Field for an Offensive Play?

15 of 25
ARLINGTON, TX - FEBRUARY 01: B.J. Raji #90 of the Green Bay Packers puts on a cheesehead during Super Bowl XLV Media Day ahead of Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium on February 1, 2011 in Arlington, Texas. The Pittsburgh Steelers will play the Green Bay P

Bet: Will B.J.Raji be on the field for at least one offensive play?

Yes (-185)

No (+145)

Pick: B.J. Raji has gone in on offense a few times for the Packers this season—mostly on goal line packages.

While I am inclined to say Raji will make an appearance on offense, I would put my money on no. Simply from the standpoint that the money is better and who's to say that the Packers will be in a goal line situation?

10. What Will Fergie Be Wearing at Halftime?

16 of 25
DALLAS, TX - FEBRUARY 03: Singer Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas speaks at the Bridgestone Super Bowl XLV Halftime Show press conference on February 3, 2011 in Dallas, Texas. (Photo by Christopher Polk/Getty Images)

Bet: What will Fergie be wearing when she first appears on stage during the Super Bowl Halftime Show?

Skirt/dress (11/10)

Pants below knees (5/4)

Shorts above knees (5/2)

Thong/G-string/Bikini Bottoms (10/1)

Pick: First off, what is to keep Fergie from putting a ton of money on one of these options and absolutely cleaning up in Vegas? I consider myself an honest man, but that is what I would do.

I would put money on Thong/G-String/Bikini Bottoms because that is what I am hoping for, and it is the only option with good odds.

9. Will a Steeler Player Do Aaron Rodger's Belt Celebration?

17 of 25
ATLANTA, GA - JANUARY 15: Aaron Rodgers #12 and Andrew Quarless #81 of the Green Bay Packers celebrate after Rodgers scored a 7-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter against the Atlanta Falcons during their 2011 NFC divisional playoff game at Georg

Bet: Will a Steelers player do the Aaron Rodgers Championship Belt Celebration during the game?

Yes (+115)

No (-155)

Pick: If you haven't seen Rodgers do his Championship Belt Celebration, basically he is pretending to put on a wrestling championship belt. He usually does it when he runs in a touchdown.

I think this one is a definite yes. I think the Steelers defense is littered with the types of guys to emulate the celebration if they make a big play.

8. Which Gal Pal Will Fox Show First?

18 of 25

Bet: Who will FOX show first on TV during the game?

Aaron Rodgers’ Girlfriend Jessica Szohr (-140)

Ben Roethlisberger’s Fiancee Ashley Harlan (even)

Pick: Szohr seems like the easy pick here. She is a television star, and in my opinion, the better eye candy.

However, if the Steelers are doing well early and give the commentators a chance to talk about Big Ben's past, that would open the door for Harlan.

Still, my money is on Szohr.

7. Who Will the Super Bowl MVP Thank First?

19 of 25
TAMPA, FL - FEBRUARY 01: Super Bowl MVP Santonio Holmes #10 of the Pittsburgh Steelers celebrates with the Vince Lombardi trophy after their 27-23 win against the Arizona Cardinals during Super Bowl XLIII on February 1, 2009 at Raymond James Stadium in T

Bet: Who will the Super Bowl MVP of the Game thank first?

Coach (15/2)

Family (11/2)

God (8/5)

Teammates (7/4)

Doesn't Thank Anyone (5/2)

Pick: This one is tough because depending on who wins the award, it could dictate who gets thanked first. However, that being said I think the pick here is God.

The odds aren't great, but I can imagine hearing, "First off, I just want to thank God."

6. How Many Times Will Jerry Jones Be Shown?

20 of 25
MINNEAPOLIS - OCTOBER 17: Owner Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys attends the game against the Minnesota Vikings at Mall of America Field on October 17, 2010 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. (Photo by Jeff Gross/Getty Images)

Bet: How Many Times will FOX show Jerry Jones on TV during the Game?

Over 2 1/2 (-140)

Under 2 1/2 (even)

Pick: This is another one that seems like a no brainer. The game will be played in the famed house that Jerry built, and it seems like Fox would go over easily.

However, I am going against conventional wisdom and saying under. Something just tells me that it will go under.

5. How Many Times Will Brett Favre Be Mentioned?

21 of 25
DETROIT, MI - JANUARY 02: Brett Favre #4 of the Minnesota Vikings talks at a post game press conference after a 13-20 loss to the Detroit Lions at Ford Field on January 2, 2011 in Detroit, Michigan. (Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images)

Bet: How Many Times will FOX mention “Brett Favre” on TV during the Game?

Over 2 1/2 (-200)

Under 2 1/2 (+150)

Pick: This is another one that seems like it would be an easy over, but the bet says that the commentators must say "Brett Favre" exactly. For that reason alone, I am taking the under.

Now, I could also see this one skyrocketing if Aaron Rodgers has a huge game.

4. How Long Will Christina Aguilera Hold

22 of 25
LOS ANGELES, CA - JUNE 17: Singer Christina Aguilera performs the national anthem before Game Seven of the 2010 NBA Finals at Staples Center between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers on June 17, 2010 in Los Angeles, California. NOTE TO USER:
LOS ANGELES, CA - JUNE 17: Singer Christina Aguilera performs the national anthem before Game Seven of the 2010 NBA Finals at Staples Center between the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers on June 17, 2010 in Los Angeles, California. NOTE TO USER:

Bet: How long will Christina Aguilera hold the note “Brave” at the end of the National Anthem?

Over six seconds (-140)

Under six seconds (even)

Pick: Upon further research, Aguilera has been known to hold the note on brave anywhere from five to seven seconds. I guess I was foolish to think Vegas would give betters a little edge.

Even so, I would take the over. It isn't every day you get to sing the National Anthem in front of the entire world. I think she will milk it.

3. Will the Steelers Win, Penguins Beat the Caps and Pirates Win Opening Day?

23 of 25
PITTSBURGH, PA - JANUARY 05: Sidney Crosby #87 of the Pittsburgh Penguins skates during warmups prior to taking on the Tampa Bay Lightning on January 5, 2011 at Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Justin K. Aller/Getty Images)

Bet: Pittsburgh Steelers win Super Bowl, Pittsburgh Penguins beat Washington Capitals (2/6/11) and Pittsburgh Pirates win on MLB Opening Day (4/1/11)?

Yes (+900)

Pick: Now the only choice on this bet is yes right now, but I have to say I love this bet. It brings all Pittsburgh sports fans together. The only thing that would have made it better is to include the University of Pittsburgh.

That being said, I would put money on this because I like those odds. If I put down $100 and win, I get $900 back. Sounds good to me.

2. Will The Steelers Win the Super Bowl and Penguins Win the Stanley Cup?

24 of 25
PITTSBURGH - JUNE 15: Sidney Crosby #87 of the Pittsburgh Penguins holds aloft the Stanley Cup for the crowd on the Blvd of the Allies during Stanley Cup Champion Victory Parade on June 15, 2009 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Photo by Jamie Sabau/Getty I

Bet: Will the Pittsburgh Steelers win the Super Bowl and Pittsburgh Penguins win the Stanley Cup in 2011?

Yes (+1000)

Pick: I like this one too. Now, I don't know a ton about hockey, but I do know the Penguins are always a threat to win the cup.

The odds make this one attractive so why not?

1. What Color Will the Gatorade Bath Be?

25 of 25
MIAMI GARDENS, FL - FEBRUARY 07: Head coach Sean Payton of the New Orleans Saints gets Gatorade dumped on him after defeating the Indianapolis Colts during Super Bowl XLIV on February 7, 2010 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. (Photo by Andy

Bet: What Color will the Gatorade be that is dumped on the head coach of the Winning Super Bowl Team?

Yellow (8/5)

Clear/Water (11/4)

Orange (9/4)

Red (5/1)

Lime green (6/1)

Blue (10/1)

Pick: This is always a great one. I always get excited to see which color comes pouring out of those orange Gatorade coolers. However, the last two Super Bowls the Gatorade was yellow.

If I were putting money on this, I would put it on red.
