WWE Royal Rumble Stock Watch: Morrison, Tyson Kidd, CM Punk, Whose Stock Is Up?

Alfred KonuwaJan 31, 2011

Big Nasty Securities returns as we make immediate evaluations of notable wrestlers' stocks based upon their booking in the Royal Rumble.

While many of the stock valuations went as expected, there were a few surprises upon our analysis.

STOCK UP: John Morrison

Pardon the quality, but you get it.
Pardon the quality, but you get it.

John Morrison's stock is marginally up on the strength of pulling off the most unique Royal Rumble spot in WWE history.

Upon entering at No. 7, Morrison did not last nearly as long as we felt he would, but his 'Spiderman' spot more than made up for what he lacked in longitude.

STOCK UP: CM Punk

2 of 8

CM Punk is slowly developing into one of the greatest Royal Rumble performers in history.  When it comes to legendary Royal Rumble openers, intriguing wars between Ax & Smash and Chainsaw Charlie & Cactus Jack come to mind.

However in the past two years, CM Punk's antics early in the Royal Rumble match have surpassed the aforementioned moments as being superior in memorability.

Punk lasted longer than anyone else in the Royal Rumble, and will seems primed for a feud with Randy Orton that will culminate in a free TV match the next time RAW's ratings sink at Wrestlemania XXVII.

STOCK UP: The New Nexus

3 of 8

The Nexus dominated the Royal Rumble using a never before seen, divide and conquer strategy that made them the focal point throughout much of a Royal Rumble match that lasted approximately 71 minutes.

The Nexus entrants were spaced out and booked appropriately enough to where their ultimate domination did not drain the energy of an otherwise white-hot Boston crowd.

STOCK UP: Daniel Bryan

4 of 8

Entering at No. 2, registering one of the longest times spent in the Royal Rumble match, and showing off his impeccable offensive arsenal throughout the Royal Rumble match, Daniel Bryan rendered a Royal Rumble performance far more promising than his hair-brained brawl with the Bella Twins (just minutes earlier) would have otherwise suggested.

STOCK UP: Alberto Del Rio

5 of 8

...But you already knew that.  Alberto Del Rio's somewhat premature Royal Rumble win was hardly surprising (in fact, it was a bit anticlimactic), however Del Rio has been a candidate to be a breakout star for a few months now.

Investment in Del Rio Inc. is highly suggested with the price exponentially rising.

STOCK DOWN: Tyson Kidd

6 of 8

Big Nasty Securities never advised you to invest in this stock, and if you made the mistake of putting a dime of your hard-earned money in Tyson Kidd's stock, you're probably angrier than...well, a WWE stockholder.

After being dominated at the hands of HornsCena, and getting no offense in during his short-lived Royal Rumble entry, Hornswoggle's elimination of Tyson Kidd may have scribbled the writing on the wall.

Simply put, the writing said "SELL THIS STOCK IMMEDIATELY."

STOCK DOWN: The Big Show

7 of 8

The Big Show will never, ever win a Royal Rumble match, but you may have missed his appearance in the Royal Rumble if you half-blinked.

While Show's quick elimination in the Rumble warranted a downgrade in his stock, a possible, yet unlikely, Wrestlemania XXVII match with Diesel may save Show's stock despite the fact that the match would be cataclysmic in the ring.

STOCK DOWN: The CORRE

8 of 8

After seeing the New Nexus dominate much of the 2011 Royal Rumble match, the stark juxtaposition created in seeing three of four CORRE members fail to last past the four-minute mark was quite startling.

CORRE's collective Royal Rumble booking verified exactly CM Punk had previously said about them in that they are nothing more than a low-rent version of the New Nexus.

We're not telling you to sell your CORRE stock quite yet, but don't go crazy loading up on CORRE stock either.
