NHL All-Star Game: Top 10 Moments From the Team Lidstrom vs. Team Staal Matchup
There was a lot of anticipation for this year's new All-Star Game format. Instead of the typical Eastern Conference versus Western Conference format, the NHL decided to switch it up, letting the captains pick their teams, like in grade school.
The All-Star Weekend included the Draft, the Skills Competition and then culminated with the game itself.
Here, the top moments from the entire All-Star Weekend.
10. Staal Brother Sibling Rivalry
1 of 10
Marc Staal expected to be drafted high in the draft since his brother was captain of Team Staal. He was in for disappointment. Marc Staal was interviewed at the Draft from the crowd, before he was drafted by his brother, to discuss his disappointment in Eric.
He vowed “I’m never buying him Christmas or birthday presents again,” before trying to guilt Eric into drafting him by saying “My mom’s probably upset.”
Eric got in a final jab before drafting him though “From the New York Rangers…Henrik Lundqvist.” After Eric finally drafted Marc, saying that it was out of pity, Marc declared that he actually hadn’t been upset, it was just part of his strategy.
9. Alex Ovechkin

Ovechkin has had a slow first half of this season. But he didn't have a slow first period in the All-Star Game.
Ovie started the scoring with a goal just 50 seconds into the game, setting Team Staal up for a quick lead. Unfortunately, it wouldn't hold.
8. Anze Kopitar
3 of 10
The LA Kings forward has been slumping lately in LA. You wouldn't know it from his ASG performance.
Kopitar notched two goals in his team's win.
7. Eric Staal
4 of 10
The captain stepped up, feeding off the emotion of his hometown crowd.
He scored two goals, the second with 33 seconds left, bringing Team Staal within one goal of tying the game.
6. Kris Letang
5 of 10
Kris Letang scored two goals for Team Staal in the ASG.
With this feat, Letang became the first Penguins player since 1997 to score two goals in an ASG. Pretty good company to keep.
5. Danny Briere
6 of 10
Danny Briere scored two goals for Team Lidstrom.
His impressive performance makes one wonder why he wasn't on the original All-Star roster.
4. Tim Thomas
7 of 10
Tim Thomas has had an impressive year in Boston. He continued his success in Raleigh.
He was the winning goaltender in the 2011 ASG, marking his third ASG win.
3. Tampa Bay Lightning (and Former Bolt) Player Success
8 of 10
The Tampa Bay Lightning were well represented in this year's All-Star Game. Current Bolts Marty St. Louis and Steven Stamkos represented Tampa.
Former Bolt Brad Richards joined Marty and Stammer on one impressive line in the game. St. Louis scored a goal, and Stammer scored another for Team Lidstrom.
2. Shea Weber
9 of 10
Shea Weber had a great weekend. It looked like he might have won the Hardest Shot challenge at the Skills Competition, before Zdeno Chara regained his title.
Then during the ASG, Weber tallied four assists and a plus-seven rating. Not too shabby for the Nashville captain.
He was robbed of the game MVP in my opinion.
1. Team Lidstrom
10 of 10
Team Lidstrom went down quickly in the first.
First they were down 4-0. Then later they were down 6-4.
But they came back and held on to the win in the final seconds of the third period.
