NFL Trade Rumors: 8 Landing Spots For Kevin Kolb After Eagles Tag Michael Vick
Michael Vick won't be going anywhere.
ESPN.com is reporting that the Philadelphia Eagles are set to use the franchise tag on their quarterback. An announcement will come next month, which means now that backup Kevin Kolb should be at the center of trade talks. A lot more will be determined, of course, after a new collective bargaining agreement is reached.
Kolb is under contract this year, but it is for just $1.4 million. That should make his stock rise even more. Question is: Where will he go?
These eight teams could factor into the race:
8. Minnesota Vikings

Many have predicted the Vikings will go after a franchise quarterback, but they could save money, grab Kolb, then fill another need with their pick and still improve their team.
Kolb's not someone who would need to be groomed for a year or two, either, and could boost the Vikings' chances of returning to the playoffs quicker.
7. Buffalo Bills

Still a long shot. You've got to figure Ryan Fitzpatrick gets another year to prove himself. He had a fairly decent year in 2010. Let's see what happens if he gets more weapons around him, and the team stays healthy.
This is the National Football League, though, and it's a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately industry. Patience is something that's often in short supply.
If Carolina could consider drafting Andrew Luck right after picking Jimmy Clausen, that tells you your window to establish yourself can sometimes be small.
6. Tennessee Titans

Team executives assured reporters that Vince Young won't be returning now that Jeff Fisher is officially gone. Even with a quarterback opening available, we still don't know who will be hired and what his offensive philosophy will be.
The Titans are worth considering, though, especially when you factor in that Kolb could have Chris Johnson in the backfield with him. Definitely a good selling point.
5. Cincinnati Bengals

Carson Palmer wants to be traded, which means the Bengals will be shopping for suitors and a decent replacement. Kolb could be appealing, especially for his price tag.
You've got to wonder, though, if he would put up with both Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson.
4. Arizona Cardinals

No offense to John Skelton, but Kevin Kolb could have won them a few more games last season. This will be interesting on multiple levels—Arizona has a lottery pick, could go after Kolb, pursue Donovan McNabb, draft a franchise quarterback or sign one of them and draft according to need.
Having options is always a good thing.
3. Washington Redskins

A risky move to stay within the division, but both teams already worked together on the McNabb deal. But it would make sense for Mike Shanahan to consider Kolb, especially if you consider that Blaine Gabbert may already be gone in the draft by the time they pick at No.10.
2. San Francisco 49ers

New coach Jim Harbaugh is also faced with the challenge of needing a franchise quarterback and having a high draft pick.
Here's a possibility (just a theory to chew on): Could Harbaugh sign Kolb, then use him in a package deal, including more players and get back additional draft picks for the next two years?
This thing won't be rebuilt in a night, and he may find a filler at quarterback and then take a shot at Andrew Luck in 2012.
1. Miami Dolphins

Kolb could start immediately, have a top-flight receiver in Brandon Marshall and capable running backs in Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams.
Miami doesn't have a superstar waiting in the wings, either, so Kolb won't need to perform and worry about someone replacing him after one interception or a bad drive.
