Tennessee Titans Boot Jeff Fisher: 10 People Happy/Sad To See Him Gone
When the Tennessee Titans surprisingly dismissed Jeff Fisher from his coaching duties, the reaction was varied. Some felt the Titans gave Fisher a raw deal and others thought a coaching change was for the best.
This slideshow depicts 10 NFL entities and their most likely reaction to Fisher's termination. Read on to find out who shed a tear and who threw a party.
5. Sad: Peyton Manning
1 of 10
Fisher donned a Peyton Manning jersey after losing 0-59 to the New England Patriots. His reasoning? He "just wanted to feel like a winner."
With Fisher's ouster, Manning loses a big fan.
Indianapolis has played well against Tennessee, winning the past five matchups. It doesn't look like Manning minds facing Fisher much.
5. Happy: Lane Kiffin

Fisher didn't take kindly to Kiffin hiring running backs coach Kennedy Pola without leaving a courtesy call. Fisher publicly criticized Kiffin for "lack of professionalism."
It's hard to see why Kiffin would be upset over Fisher's dismissal.
4. Sad: Tony Dungy
3 of 10
In the Vince Young-Fisher dispute, Dungy sided with Fisher saying "no coach in the National Football League has his players’ back as much as Jeff Fisher does. And Vince Young as a quarterback, he’s gotta be with them.”
With the respect Dungy has for Fisher, he can't have liked seeing Fisher shoved out the door.
4. Happy: ESPN
4 of 10
Following a 30-3 rout of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Fisher revealed that ESPN asked him to take timeouts. ESPN denied the claims and Fisher backed off his comments.
Still, one has to wonder if that's why Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio called timeouts despite his team losing by a big deficit late in the fourth quarter.
If innocent, ESPN disliked Fisher's false accusations. If guilty, they disliked Fisher for exposing their money-making scheme.
3. Sad: Chris Johnson
5 of 10
When Johnson was threatening Eric Dickerson's season rushing record in 2009, Jeff Fisher did everything he could to help him get it.
In a meaningless Week 17 game against Seattle, Fisher had Johnson carry the rock 36 times. Other coaches may have benched Johnson to prevent serious injury, but Fisher let him play.
In 2010, he carried the ball another 316 times. Depending on who is brought in, Johnson might find his carries reduced.
3. Happy: Billy Volek
6 of 10
Fisher called Volek a liar and accused him of "throwing the organization under the bus, along with a number of his teammates."
AP reported that it was "unprecedented public criticism by Fisher, who has repeatedly protected his players."
For some reason, I can't see Volek shedding a tear over Fisher's plight.
2. Sad: Bill Polian
7 of 10
This is what Polian said about Fisher:
“I’m not going to tell anybody else how to run their business. All I can tell you is, there are very few guys in this league that I respect more than Jeff Fisher, both as a colleague on the competition committee and a leader in this league, and most importantly as a coach on the field.
“You measure coaches by how their teams play when there is nothing at stake. And there was nothing at stake for those guys [Sunday]. They were prepared flawlessly, basically they played flawlessly except for the one fumble. They had a great plan on both side of the ball and they executed that plan and as a result the game went 60 minutes.
“I didn’t expect anything less because I know what Jeff Fisher is all about. He’s a great competitor, he’s a great coach, he’s got a great coaching staff and they did a heck of a job.
“I have a world of respect for him.”
I think this quote speaks for itself.
2. Happy: Bud Adams
8 of 10
The person who booted Fisher should be on this list.
Fisher and Adams never got along that well. In 2002, Adams implied that Fisher was "getting outcoached." More recently, Adams took to siding with Vince Young over Fisher. The tense relationship culminated in Fisher getting canned.
1. Sad: Kerry Collins
9 of 10
Despite being 38 and not that great of a QB, Collins has started 28 games the past three seasons. This year, he started seven games, throwing 14 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Now that Fisher is gone, the chances that Collins resigns have diminished.
If there is truly an unhappy camper in the locker room, it's Kerry Collins.
1. Happy: Vince Young
10 of 10
Could it possibly be anyone else? Young probably danced around the TV upon hearing the news.
Fisher and Young have gotten into disputes over the years. They started off on the wrong foot; Fisher didn't want to draft Young, but Bud Adams insisted on it. Over the years, the numerous incidents that Young has embroiled himself in (strip club fight, tossing shoulder pads in stands, heated exchanges, etc.) haven't given reason for Fisher to change his mind.
