Mike Tomlin boasts a 48-22 overall record, including 5-1 in the postseason. He became the youngest coach to ever win a Super Bowl when he led Pittsburgh in XLIII.
Mike McCarthy has a 48-32 overall record, with a 4-2 mark in the playoffs. He was named NFL Coach of the Year in 2007.
The two Mikes are relatively young, good coaches. It should be a fun battle to watch.
The Last Meeting
3 of 10
The last time the teams met, the game went down to the final tick. Literally. Down 30-36, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger threw a touchdown pass to Mike Wallace at the end of regulation. Jeff Reed made the extra point. Pittsburgh 37, Green Bay 36.
That loss had to sting for Green Bay. They will be looking to pay Pittsburgh back in kind next Sunday.
The Pack Are Favored
4 of 10
Green Bay is slightly favored over Pittsburgh.
Over the past decade, the favorite has gone 6-4 in the Super Bowl. While this is far from decisive, the expected winner generally has the upper hand.
The last time Pittsburgh was the underdog in a Super Bowl was XXX. They lost.
Lucky No. 6
5 of 10
Green Bay is the second No. 6 seed to advance to the Super Bowl. Coincidentally, Pittsburgh was the first, going to the 2006 Super Bowl.
The favored Steelers defeated the No. 1 NFC seed Seattle Seahawks. The Packers hope to capture some of their own No. 6 seed magic on February 6.
Peaking
6 of 10
Green Bay is playing their best football right now. James Starks has emerged, providing the Packers with a running threat they sorely needed. Starks has carried the ball at least 20 times each game this postseason.
The defense has shored up, too. After allowing 4.7 yards per carry during the regular season, Green Bay is allowing just 3.5 yards per carry.
Aaron Rodgers
7 of 10
Of the top 10 career leaders in passer rating, seven have won Super Bowls. This bodes well for Rodgers, the most efficient passer in NFL history.
The Pro Bowl QB has played well this postseason, throwing for six touchdowns against two interceptions. He has yet to play on the game's biggest stage so it will be interesting to see how he reacts.
Big Ben
8 of 10
Fear not, Steeler fans. History might not be on your side, but a history-making QB is.
Ben Roethlisberger has shown he has what it takes. Twice. He may not put up the most gaudy stats but he comes through in the clutch. As long as he is under center, Pittsburgh fans shouldn't worry.
Rashard Mendenhall
9 of 10
Rashard Mendenhall is the favorite to score the first Super Bowl touchdown.
That bodes well for Pittsburgh. In Super Bowls where they score the first TD, they are 4-0.
Even if Mendenhall doesn't score the first TD, he will be vital to the Steelers' chances. Green Bay has tightened up their run defense in the postseason, allowing just 3.5 yards per carry. He and the offensive line will need to be on top of their game.
Super Bowl Experience
10 of 10
Besides Big Ben, Pittsburgh has 24 other players with Super Bowl experience. This experience will no doubt be a factor in the game.
On the other hand, Green Bay has just two players with Super Bowl experience.
In this area, Pittsburgh has the clear edge.
