Ridiculous Sports-Related Stories of the Week
This week was awash in sports-related stories that border on being, for lack of a better word, ridiculous. Let's jump right in.
Michael Vick has been chosen by a little-known company called Unequal Technologies to be their spokesman. The CEO of the company was quoted as saying that "Michael Vick is good people."
Besides this being an annoyingly hokey statement, it is also ridiculous in that few people would think of Michael Vick as "good people." The thought that doing prison time somehow makes you an honorable, reborn, upstanding citizen is naive at best.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Not only is Vick fresh off his prison term for heinous animal abuse, but he also has the dubious distinction of being voted the most hated professional athlete in the US.
But maybe Unequal's CEO has been living on a deserted island for the past four years and was unaware of this.
I think having the most hated athlete in the country as your spokesman would qualify as a rather poor marketing decision.
John Stone, a now "former" employee of Webb Chevrolet in Oak Lawn, Ill., was fired from his job on Monday because he wore a Green Bay Packers tie to work. Apparently his boss (or rather his former boss), Jerry Roberts, ordered him to remove the tie, and when Stone did not do so, Roberts fired him.
I'm no lawyer, but I would NOT think that this qualifies as proper grounds for termination. It is ridiculous that some self-important boss would think that he is justified in terminating an employee over the color of his necktie.
It would seem Stone could sue for wrongful termination and get enough cash to buy a different Packers wardrobe for each day of the week.
Chad Ochocinco has decided to change his last name back to Johnson. Yawn!!! This is such a "who cares" story that is makes the ridiculous list.
It would appear that Chad Ochocinco, or Johnson, or whatever, is looking really hard for any reason to get his name back in the news.
This probably due to the fact that his on-the-field performance has been so lackluster that nobody has been paying much attention to him.
By the way, I hope that someone pointed out to Chad that Ochocinco is NOT Spanish for 85. The number 85 is ochenta y cinco. Oh well, we won't have to worry about it anymore because the name will again be Johnson and I imagine his performance on the field will be just as lame as ever.
Mark Sanchez gets the "eww, you're gross" award for picking his nose and wiping it on teammate Mark Brunell. I wonder if that's why the Jets lost.
Because, let's just say this, if you're so lame as to pick your nose and wipe it on somebody, you shouldn't ever be in a Super Bowl, you should be sent to the "time-out" chair in preschool class.
And finally, what was up with the RIDICULOUS amount of heat Jay Cutler took for missing much of the second half of the NFC Championship due to injury.
Nobody even knew what was the injury at the time and yet such fellow NFL players as the Eagles' Asante Samuel, the Jags Maurice Jones-Drew, and former linebacker Derrick Brooks all ripped him in online Tweets and Blogs. Some crazy "fans" even burned his jersey.
They were all claiming that he "didn't look hurt enough." What does that mean? And especially now that we know that the injury was a torn MCL, these detractors look even more foolish for rushing to judgment with their self-righteous comments.
It would actually appear that Cutler is so tough that he doesn't whine like a big baby when he's injured.
Maybe Asante Samuel, Jones-Drew, Brooks and others should try to learn from Cutler and not be such cry babies when they're hurt. And maybe these jersey burning "fans" need to actually get a life.
Where was all this backlash when Chad Ochocinco missed the last game of the season because he claimed he was too hurt to play, even though his head coach said he was just being "mopey"?
I mean Cutler has a legitimate injury, but apparently because he isn't crying about it or whining for attention, there are stupid people who think they can call into question his toughness.
Oh, and lets note that none of the players who were slamming Cutler were good enough to get to the Conference Championship like Cutler and the Bears.
