Miami Dolphins: Why Bill Parcells Should Be Hated By Fin Fans
Some Miami Dolphins fans have already grown to hate Bill Parcells, but there are still many out there, that I hear on sports talk radio/blogs, who think he has done a lot of good for the franchise.
Bill Parcells has done just about nothing for this Miami Dolphins franchise.
Under Parcells' watch the Dolphins have had one winning season—and that was mainly thanks to Brett Favre and the New York Jets.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Favre demanded his way out of Green Bay and the Jets cut loose Chad Pennington to make room for Favre.
Do you honestly think that Dolphins team wins 11 games with Josh McCown as the starting QB (which was going to be the plan had Pennington not fallen into their laps)?
After the 11-5 season in 2008, the Dolphins have turned in back-to-back 7-9 seasons.
Now, I do feel like I should mention the good he has done.
Parcells was able to find WR Devone Bess; he was still around for the Brandon Marshall and Karlos Dansby transactions; he was smart enough to lock up S Yeremiah Bell and drafted CBs Sean Smith and Vontae Davis.
I know some would say signing Cam Wake was a credit to Parcells. However, many teams wanted Wake, Parcells just got lucky that Wake chose the Dolphins. So it was not far from Parcells "finding" Wake as many teams wanted him.
For all that good he has done, the bad outweighs it.
In the free agency department, his free agency misses have been well documented. Jake Grove, Justin Smiley, Ernest Wilford, Charlie Anderson, Reggie Torbor, and Gabril Wilson have all been huge wastes of money.
Re-signing losers like Channing Crowder and Anthony Fasano (right after the one good game he had all year for the Fins) were big mistakes.
His draft misses include Pat White in Round 2 and Patrick Turner in Round 3 among others.
Then look at the guys he let go that are now either starters or significant contributors on other teams.
LB Erik Walden is a starter on the NFC Champion Green Bay Packers; WR Derek Hagen was a contributor for the New York Giants this year; WR Anthony Armstrong showed great potential for the Washington Redskins; and LB Rob Ninkovich had a breakout year for the New England Patriots, including two INTs against the Dolphins.
Now moving onto his hirings.
He stuck the Dolphins with Tony Sparano as head coach and Jeff Ireland as general manager. In my opinion that I have voiced in other articles, both of these clowns have done nothing but hurt the Dolphins.
Not only did he hire these two guys, but he passed on a better coach.
Say what you want about Rex Ryan, and I hate him just as much as anyone else. However, his coaching record is much better than Tony Sparano's record.
Parcells interviewed Ryan for the Dolphins' head coach position prior to the 2008 season. Parcells claims he was blown away by Ryan, but still decided to go with someone he was comfortable with in Sparano.
Not only did he pass on Ryan, but he recommended Ryan to the New York Jets!
Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum actually called Parcells looking for his opinion on Ryan and Parcells told him he was going to be a great coach.
So, Parcells decided that the past regime trading a great player in Wes Welker to a division rival was not enough. In his opinin, he wanted to just let another division rival take a great coach that the Dolphins could have had.
It did not stop there, Parcells then gave Ryan advice during Ryan's rookie year in coaching. This is while Parcells was still working for the Dolphins!
Stephen Ross has made big mistakes in giving Sparano and Ireland extensions, but it all stems from Parcells' decisions.
Many thought Wayne Huizenga giving Parcells a guaranteed contract was crazy but worth it because of what Parcells could bring.
However, the truth of the matter is that Parcells has never really built anything.
George Young was the architect of the New York Giants Super Bowl Championship team in 1990 and the Dallas Cowboys could never win a playoff game under Parcells.
So was the Parcells hiring just a middle finger to South Florida from Huizenga? Did he know the Parcells hiring was not going to work?
Just how long will this hiring set the Dolphins back?
In my opinion, there is some good talent in Miami, but the front office and coaching staff left by Parcells is far from championship caliber.
