Philadelphia Eagles: Complete 7 Round 2011 NFL Mock Draft

Jason KarlJun 6, 2018

The Philadelphia Eagles value the draft over free agency, which most elite franchises do.

The Eagles have a smart, young general manager with Howie Roseman whose specialty is in the scouting department, so he understands the players and how to draft.

We could clearly see Roseman's intelligence, especially after last year's draft class, when mostly all the picks contributed.

Head Coach Andy Reid though has the final decision in all personnel and drafting picks.

Let's assume a CBA is not reached before the draft.

So, here is a 7 round mock for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Round 1 Pick 23: Gabe Carimi OT Wisconsin

1 of 8

If Gabe Carimi did not come into this season with enormous expectations, he would be picked earlier than 23 because of his end of the season dominance.

Carimi started the year off slow continually getting beat, but by season's end, was truly what we all expected out of him.

He is a dominant run blocker and could be switched to Right Tackle to replace Winston Justice protecting Micheal Vick's blindside.

Given his run-blocking prowess, size and strength, using him at right tackle makes sense.

Carimi is a mammoth at 6-7 and 330 pounds.

Round 2 Pick 53: Curtis Brown CB Texas

Curtis Brown may be one of the harder guys to predict. He can definitely sneak into the first half of the 2nd round, but could also fall.

Brown at 6-0, 190 pounds has good size, speed, and athletic ability.

Though he picked off just 1 pass this season, teams tend to throw to teammate Aaron Williams and not Brown.

Brown would be a significant upgrade over Dmitri Patterson, and would form a great tandem with star Asante Samuel. Brown is very similar to the Giants first rounder in '07, Aaron Ross.

Brown is physical enough and is solid in run defense.

Round 3 Pick 85: Robert Sands S West Virginia

Robert Sands is probably the most intimidating safety in this year's draft class. Sands is a junior out of West Virginia.

He is 6-5, 225 pounds and can hit and punish you. He could be a very capable complement to Nate Allen, who is more of a coverage safety.

With his enormous size at safety, he has enough speed to cover tight ends as well. He is almost like Taylor Mays of last year's draft class, but his instincts are much better.

There is no doubt Sands needs more coaching, but is potential and impact could be that of a LaRon Landry.

Round 4 Pick 103: John Moffit G Wisconsin

Another Wisconsin offensive lineman? Well you know how many they have produced in the NFL.

If the Eagles were to get Moffitt in the 4th, it would be a steal. He stands at 6-4 and 320 pounds, and has the versatility to play Center as well, something the Eagles love in their offensive lineman.

Moffitt, like Carimi, is a great run blocker and drives defenders back.

He played Left Guard in college, but moving to Right Guard would not be a huge change.

Moffitt would be an upgrade over whoever the Eagles put at right guard.

Round 4 Pick 119 Lawrence Wilson OLB Connecticut

5 of 8
GLENDALE, AZ - JANUARY 01: Ryan Broyles #85 of the Oklahoma Sooners fumbles the ball as it is stripped by Lawrence Wilson #8 of the Connecticut Huskies alongside Jerome Junior #15 in the second half during the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl at the Universtity of P

If you noticed this guy when he played against Oklahoma, then you are not alone.

Arguably Connecticut's best defender, Lawrence Wilson is an underrated playmaker, and unlike Ernie Sims, has actual football instincts.

Wilson stands at 6-1 and 225 pounds, so he may fit in nicely as a solid weakside linebacker in our scheme.

Wilson this past season had 123 tackles, 4 sacks, and 1 interception. Wilson is an elite tackler at his position, but may need to improve dropping back in coverage.

Round 5: Davon House CB New Mexico State

6 of 8
AUSTIN, TX - AUGUST 31: Running back Cedric Benson #32 of the University of Texas at Austin Longhorns leaps over the New Mexico State University Aggies during the game Texas Memorial Stadium on August 31, 2003 in Austin, Texas. Texas defeated New Mexico

Davon House is a very underrated corner. House has 10 career interceptions, showing he knows how to make a play on the ball.

House is underrated in the running game. He can stick his nose hitting a running back coming full steam ahead.

House would be a depth pick, something the Eagles clearly lacked at cornerback this past season.

Round 5: Greg Romeus DE Pittsburgh

7 of 8

You have to feel bad for Greg Romeus. If he came out last draft, he would have most likely been a 2nd round pick.

Romeus was flat out horrible to open this season, and did not look ready for the season. Then he had back surgery which is even more concern about him.

There is no doubting athletic ability though, he stands at 6-6, 270 pounds and is projected to run a 4.70 in the 40-yard dash.

In his junior year, Romeus showed flashes of dominance with 8 sacks and 11 tackles for loss.

If Brandon Graham cannot come back in time for next season, do not be surprised if Romeus plays a key situational pass rush role for the Eagles.

Round 7: Derrick Locke RB Kentucky

8 of 8

Derrick Locke could be a true sleeper RB for any team.

He is smaller at 5-9, 192 pounds, but has a quick burst and is versatile.

He average 5.3 yards per carry and recorded 34 receptions.

Playing in the SEC is hard enough, but Locke showed he can be a capable running back. He could fill in as a backup to LeSean McCoy. He would at least be an upgrade over Eldra Buckley.

Here's an impressive stat for you: Locke had never fumbled once in his entire SEC career.
