Aaron Rodgers or Ben Roethlisberger: Which Would You Want for the Super Bowl?

amin arikatJan 24, 2011

There is less than two minutes left in the fourth quarter, trailing by 5, your team has to go  80 yards for the winning score. Which of the two quarterbacks would you want in your huddle- Aaron Rodgers or Ben Roethlisberger?

Aaron Rodgers has taken his game to another level, he has won three consecutive road playoff games in hostile environments this postseason. His play has many Packer faithful thinking he could supplant ol' number 4 as the greatest Green Bay quarterback ever.

Then you have Big Ben, who just seems to keep winning and making fabulous plays when the game is on the line. Granted Roethlisberger's stats were not off the charts this past Sunday against the Jets, he was only 10 for 19 with 133 yards passing and three two interceptions; and no touchdowns.

Yet Roethlisberger constantly comes up with the big play when the game is on the line, such as moving around in the pocket to buy time and connect with a receiver on a big first down, or scrambling for a first down to clinch the game for the Steelers.

Rodgers seems extremely cool and collected in the pocket, calmly reading the defenses, looking at the coverages; and then picking apart the defense- whether it be man to man coverage or some sort of zone look.

Aaron Rodgers has a very strong arm, and he flicks the ball downfield effortlessly right into the receiver's hands. His deep ball may be the best in the league. He also is very good on the run, as evident by his rushing seven times for 39 yards and a touchdown in last week's game against Chicago.

Both quarterbacks are comfortable making something out of nothing on broken plays. Both quarterbacks can run very well with the ball which makes the defense stay honest when rushing the passer; and with the big-play ability they have it is a nightmare to gameplan against these two signal callers.

Roethlisberger is bigger and harder to bring down than Rodgers when wrapped up for a potential sack, though Rodgers can break away with quicker speed when flushed out of the pocket.

Big Ben has two Super Bowl rings. Aaron Rodgers has none. Yet.

So if your team is playing on Super Sunday, and you can have either one of these guys lace up their shoes and join your team; which one would you choose?
