MLB Daily Market Wrap Up
Moving Today's Market
Slow day on the baseball schedule, and one afternoon game (the Cubs' Ted Lilly flirted with a no hitter) leaves one less option for tonight. One interesting market move can be seen in the Mets-Nationals match up. New York sends Pedro Martinez (5-4 ERA, 5.44) to the mound against Washington's John Lannan (8-13, 4.09). The Mets opened at Pinnacle as -172 favorites, and the public is backing them with 75% of moneyline bets. The line has actually moved in the opposite direction, as the Mets are currently -147 favorites over the Nationals. That much movement with the betting percentages is a strong indication that the Smart Money is behind Washington. In tonight's big match up, Boston sends Daisuke Matsuzaka (16-2, 2.97) to the mound against Scott Kazmir (11-6, 2.99) and Tampa Bay. The public looks pretty evenly split in terms of betting percentages, with the Rays garnering 52% of moneyline wagers. The Red Sox opened at Pinnacle as slight favorites with a -105/-103 line, but the line currently has the Rays as -117 favorites and Boston at +109.
