Aaron Rodgers: Ignoring Brett Favre, Cancer "Snub" and Becoming a Champ
Aaron Rodgers is big news this week and he hasn't even thrown a pass in Chicago.
First things first, there are a lot of upset folks due to the perception that Rodgers "snubbed" cancer patient Jan Cavanaugh last week at the airport as the team left for Atlanta.
Fact is, Rodgers has met Cavanaugh and has signed for her. "I've met Jan on previous occasions," Rodgers explained this week. "I've signed for her and as the video shows on this trip [to Atlanta], I didn't see her and I didn't sign for her."

No snub and no problem as far as Cavanaugh is concerned. She told a Green Bay television station that she's not upset and showed off a shirt that she said Rodgers signed for her the previous week. What Cavanaugh did say is that she was dismayed by the criticism that has been tossed at Rodgers.
Now that is out of the way, there's old grandpa, you know, No. 4.
Seems Brett Favre is in the prediction business now and he emailed ESPN's Ed Werder and wrote: "I think Green Bay will win it all." He went on to write: "Aaron (Rodgers) is the best quarterback and the receiving corps is the best ever, maybe."
Well you might note that Lord Favre called the Packer receivers the "best ever" then immediately added a "maybe."
Nice, Brett.
What Rodgers needs to do amidst all this hoopla is simply do what he's doing, practice as he's practiced and do his best to have a humdinger of a game in Chicago like he did last week in Atlanta.
Can he duplicate that effort against the Falcons? He really doesn't need to be THAT good. Though something close would do nicely.
It's not as if there are any secrets here, no last minute cram sessions. These teams know each other quite well and over the years, they've played more than 180 times.
That's called keeping your friends close, and in the case of the Bears, your enemies closer.
It doesn't get much closer than Green Bay taking on Chicago—AGAIN.
But this playoff meeting is special. They haven't met in a playoff game since 1941 and that's mostly due to the fact that they're in the same division and have been, well, since there have been divisions.
What Rodgers needs to do is keep his eye on the prize, keep his focus where it has been.
Jan Cavanaugh knows she'll cross paths with Rodgers again, as does Rodgers.
If the Green Bay PR gremlins wanted to do everyone a favor, they'd bring Jan to Chicago and put her up in the owner's box for this game. Although there is no one "owner" for the Packers, they do get that visiting VIP box.
Put Jan there and put Aaron back on the field and let him take care of business.
Makes sense, doesn't it?
